I arrived after 2 days of travel and had an excellent stay. The front desk was friendly, informative (Shawn) the room was quiet and clean. It’s an older hotel but everything worked.

Friendly and helpful staff. Hotel is located centrally. Facilities need to be updated
Very friendly staff and good location. We did find a lot of black mold in the ceiling and that also generated a funky smell in our room.
The staff was super nice about it but couldn’t offer us another room since they were fully booked. Instead they gave us partly refund on the room.
This hotel has the best location in the miss of Old Quarter. We had our favourite restaurant right in front of the hotel. We also booked out tour to Ha Long bay right outside the hotel. And the hotel was super helpful with booking a bus to Ninh Binh.
The staff were helpful and sweet. Amazing laundry service.
The only downside was that we didn’t have a pool. Also we didn’t have a balcony, but we didn’t mind since we didn’t spend too much time at the hotel.
Rooms were somewhat comfortable.
We didn’t like the fact that there was construction going on at building.
We like the nice breakfast but it took time to order. Has elevator for luggage’s. Halls are narrow and seem not well maintained
Staff seems stiff and some are strict and not accommodating.
Overall, definitely a budget hotel.
We had a lovely welcome and could check in immediately. The spacious room gave enough space for the four of us and the facilities were alright. Could have been more clean, there were spiderwebs all over the walls and ceiling. It was located perfectly in the old quarter and had a tiny breakfast buffet with fruit, toast, egg choices and pancakes.

We had a five-night paid reservation, and we left earlier. It could be a regular, cheap hotel, in which I have stayed many times, but I draw the lines at blood stains in the wall of our room.

We booked a room with sonata boutique, but upon arrival told us to go next door and check in at La Renta. I assume they overbooked? So technically this review is for La Renta, which appears to be connected to Sonata, as the free breakfast was provided in the Sonata lobby. Anyway, the room was tiny, loud construction noise, but functional. Staff were kind and helpful. Excellent location, great restaurants and shops very close, everything is walkable. It was a comfortable stay, but not luxurious.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
When we first arrived, we quickly dropped off our bags and headed out without inspecting the room. Unfortunately, when we returned later, we were very disappointed by what we found.
There was hair on the floor and in the bed, and we even noticed little ants on the bedding. The bathroom setup was unusual, with the shower installed very closely over the toilet, which didn’t feel very practical or hygienic. The towels provided was stained and didn’t appear clean.
We were offered to see other rooms, hoping this was just an isolated issue. We were shown three rooms in total which were much bigger, but sadly, all of them had similar cleanliness concerns. It was also clear that the hotel did not match the photos we had seen on Expedia—it looked much more dated and worn in person than what was advertised.
That said, the receptionist was very kind and genuinely tried to accommodate us. She was understanding of our concerns and did her best to help, which we appreciated.
Ultimately, we didn’t feel comfortable staying and decided to check out and book another hotel. While the hotel offered a refund for two out of the three nights, they declined to provide a full refund, which was disappointing given that we didn’t stay at all.
Overall, this property didn’t meet our expectations, If you do consider staying here, we recommend checking the room first and setting expectations accordingly.
