This was our first time in Japan, and finding a place that was central was important to us, but at the same time we wanted to avoid being at the epicenter of action such as you would find in Shinjuku or Shibuya. Admittedly, the social media algorithm steered me to look into the Otani. The property is rich with history, and surrounded by a beautiful garden. There are numerous restaurants on property, as well as boutiques and a sundry store. The area is directly south of Tokyo Station, nestled between the Imperial Palace grounds and some office buildings. The breakfast buffet was excellent, offering both Japanese and Western options. There is room service til midnight, which helped fulfill a last minute urge for ice cream once we had showered and settled to bed. The staff were attentive...it felt almost too posh to have someone call a taxi for us and open our doors once our taxi pulled up. If you decide to rentva car while in Japan, there is free parking. They do have a line of tacis waiting at the entrance for guests to summon to go out and about. There is also a metro station nearby. Overall, could not be happier with the choice to stay at the Otani. Will definitely return.
