Little oasis

Occasionally whilst on your travels you stumble upon somewhere you really feel at home ... this is how it was when we stayed at 88 Baron van Reede. The accommodation was just perfect, comfortable and relaxing. Huw and Zoe, gave us a very warm welcome and spent quite some time, advising on local attractions and restaraunts to visit, even providing discount vouchers for some of them! Zoe's assortment of home made cakes, pastries and jams, were also a lovely touch, and the breakfast selection...

From the welcome we received to the farewell the level of personal service we received from the owners Albert and Elsa were unparalleled. Very tastefully decorated, spotless and in a beautiful location overlooking the river. We only stayed one night but will definitely return and stay longer. Loved our stay.

We had a lovely stay. The Location was amazing and the attention to detail within the property was on point. We had a nice meal in evening with some amazing Wagyu steak, which was amazing. Breakfast also didn’t disappoint. Will definitely stay again!

Jude was an extremely helpful and friendly host, and she even organised reservations at local restaurants and provided many great recommendations for our 2 night stay. Such a warm welcome, the homemade lemonade hit just the right spot after a long drive.

It's very quiet, very calm and very well appointed. I had a luxurious chalet with a mini kitchen and fast internet. Do bring food with you as there's not a restaurant at the hotel and you'll have to go back into Carnarvon to eat otherwise - where options are limited. Bring cat treats too if you want to be popular with the feline greeters The host is very welcoming and you'll enjoy seeing the ostriches on this working farm

Amazing location if you wish to disconnect from the city life. You’ll have to drive about 12km on a gravel road after you go through the main gate (this is where google map stops). I recommend a car with good ground clearance (Toyota cross worked great for me). The night sky is very clear if you’re a stargazer and the SALT Telescope is about 45 mins drive. We had an unexpected stayover in the lovely village of Prince Albert and checked in at this quaint, old world establishment. Our hosts were very welcoming and even provided a carafe of sherry and chocolates to ward off the cold. The beds were comfortable and the antique furnishings a lovely touch. The beautiful quiet garden is a wonderful place to while away the time.

We had a lovely stay at Altes Landhaus Country Lodge. From the moment we arrived, we received a very friendly welcome and were made to feel truly special. We were in town for the 5 Shy Meerkats tour, which we would highly recommend, and also enjoyed an ostrich safari. Thanks to a brochure from the hotel, we even received a discount. We opted to have dinner at the lodge and it was excellent, complemented by a great wine list. The wifi was a little hit and miss at times, but it certainly did not...

Absolutely beautiful stay here and we felt that the photos don’t even do it justice! The owners have thought through every single detail of this property and are so friendly and welcoming. Really safe area, off road parking and lovely cafe across the main road for food and drinks. The outdoor dining area is just perfect for cooking and making the most of your fabulous stay at De Kleine Prince! Wish we’d had more time here as we loved it, thank you!

Very well equipped property and really helpful staff and owner who suggested excellent local restaurant.

The place was easy to find and well signposted. We had a warm, friendly and helpful greeting from Justin. Our room was clean and a good size with plenty of space for luggage. It had a large bed which was comfortable, together with soft linens. The bathroom was also a good size with toilet, sink, bath and shower. The shower had plenty of hot water and the flow was ok. Bath towels were large and toiletries also provided. The room had a refrigerator, tea/coffee station, TV, microwave and air...

Our family stayed at Swartberg Country Manor for one night in February. The first thing that greeted us was the beautiful grounds, and restaurant with a stunning view of the mountain. Then we saw a beautiful historic house with a big old stoep; here we enjoyed 3 very comfortable rooms. And let me not forget the kind and professional staff, including their head chef who made the most wonderful 3 course dinner! A gem! Thank you for a lovely stay.

Lovely garden and very well placed for eating out and attractions.

It was bit tricky to find the breakfast restaurant, satnav sent us twice into wrong directions, but eventually we found it. Good food.
