"Really nice hotel with very large rooms. I highly recommend this place for anyone staying in the area. We were mainly staying here to check out Grand Marias and some of the trails along lake superior. This turned out to be a very convenient spot and I would highly recommend it."

"Solbakken Resort was a comfortable stay with a great view of Lake Superior. It's close to Grand Marais and a lot of restaurant and activity options. We only stayed for the night but I would love to come back and spend more time here. We happened to be there when there was quite the weather storm coming through. Since we aren't from this part of the U.S. the flash flood warnings had us concerned. But the Solbakken sits in a safe area and there was no impact by the rains. Other stretches along highway 61 weren't so lucky. We spent the evening in the main lodge playing pool and enjoying the hot cocoa. The rooms have a kitchenette and there's access to fire pits, grills, and relaxing private patios. Like I said, I would love to comeback and spend more days here!"

"Had an absolutely wonderful stay loved the 1950s decor and the steel vault doors on bathroom and closet doors are awesome I loved having the windows open and natural air conditioning blowing in from lake Superior was a real treat so much better than air conditioning the staff here is super friendly and nice and hard-working as well and you get a lovely wake up call from the seagulls in the morning so no need to set an alarm clock. We will certainly be back here it's one of the nicest places I've ever stayed and I love the fact that they're maintaining the original decor keep up the good work."
