"Fourth time we have stayed there over the years, it is convenient for the bridge across to Bilbao port and offers a good range of local ameities nearby providing you can find somewhere convenient to park. We could not get the air con / fan working that evening. They have upgraded the rooms compared to the previous visits and the picture accurately shows the view we had. The improvement work continues and IT IS NO ANSWER TO SAY IN SPAIN BUILDERS ARE ALLOWED TO START AS EARLY AS 8:00 WHEN WORKING IN A BUILDING. IT IS A HOTEL - GUESTS MIGHT LIKE TO SLEEP IN, THAT'S OFTEN WHAT THEY PAY FOR - IF THE HOTEL CANNOT CONTROL THE BUILDER'S START TIME (UNTIL SAY AT LEAST 9 WITH WARNING) PERHAPS THE MANAGEMENT SHOULD LOOK ELSEWHERE / PERHAPS CHANGE PROFESSIONS, AS THEY CLEARLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE BASICS OF RUNNING AS A HOTEL OR CLOSE PROPERLY FOR RENNOVATIONS. My suggestion that such an early start (on a Saturday morning) was not really what you'd expect from a professional hotelier was just met (from morning staff) with a shrug of shoulders. it's Spanish rules! Very welcoming Breakfast good, albeit with just one member of staff there, to check people in and find initial coffee plus attend to eberything else there are understandably longer waits then should be the case for some of the food replenishments to come out. "Definitely not a 5 star hotel! We booked it because it’s a 5* that allows dogs. When we arrived, there was no bell person. They only had one person doing the door and they were busy with a large tour bus. When we mentioned it to the two men at the front desk, Guilherme and David, it was brushed off with an arrogance that upset my husband. He asked they tell a manager that a hotel that size should have two door people for a 5 star hotel. One of them went to speak to the female guest services manager, Anya, we came out and carried our 5 pieces of luggage by hand. They didn’t have a cart and the men were useless. She was great. Hotel amenities were crap. No shower cap which is a basic for that calibre of hotel. One ply toilet paper. It just wasn’t good. Breakfast was okay. Snacks at the level were good. Hotel was severely under staffed. We would go back for the dogs and the location. "
