"If you want a nice, peaceful, away from everything kind of place, then this is your stop. Up on top of the mountains, you have a fantastic view all around you. It is very quiet and you can sleep peacefully. The rooms are quite basic, no fridge, soap stuffs, but it is still a great lodge. The owners are very nice and amazing folks who will do what they can to make your stay pleasant. This was definitely a relaxing stay for me."

Gottweig Abbey was established in the 11th century. It has had monks onsite for over 900 years, longer than any other Abbey or monastery in Europe. Most of the structures burnt to the ground in the 18th century, so a majority of the buildings are a mere 300 years old.
