"After spending 18 days in various hostels around Japan, and hundreds of days around the world, this one had been my absolute favorite. The best sleep I have gotten on my trip and the breakfast was an amazing treat. Walking distance to most sights."

"The rooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast buffet was delicious! We didn’t try out the onsen as we were not comfortable with getting naked with our adult children.
The location was fantastic, super close to Gora station. "

"Excellent stay at a beautiful property with gorgeous grounds. Check-in was wonderful and the attention to detail throughout the hotel is outstanding. The staff are incredibly friendly, attentive, and truly make you feel welcomed. No detail goes unnoticed here.
My only comment would be regarding the shuttle pick-up process from the bus station. It can feel very chaotic, and the hotel only allows phone calls for arranging pick-up rather than email communication. Not every traveler has access to a working phone while abroad, so it can be inconvenient having to ask the tourist information desk to call on your behalf when there are already hundreds of travelers seeking assistance.
Other than that, I genuinely have nothing bad to say about this property. Highly recommend and would absolutely stay again."
"Beautiful setting, the private bath outside the room was a highlight of our trip, so special. The Kaiseki dinner made the whole experience feel authentic and the food was lovely, high quality."
"Very modern, clean and comfotable, with inroom onsen and sauna with red light and outside footbath in every suit, even a telescope and a projector.
The only downfall is its not walking distance to any stores or restaurants you need to take a cab."
"Beautiful, the in room onsen was amazing and the room was awesome. Great staff. Great location. Wish I could stay for longer- perfect to break up the hustle and bustle of the big cities.
Make sure you arrive early- all of the attractions close around 5 pm, which I didn’t realize, but the staff stored my luggage while I went to explore on check out day.
The only thing that wasn’t amazing was dinner, but I didn’t go for one of the higher priced wagyu steaks. Otherwise , a perfect stay."
"We had a fantastic stay at HOTEL MYSTAYS Fuji Onsen Resort. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful, spoke excellent English, answered all of our questions, and provided detailed directions, recommendations, and helpful tips that really enhanced our Mt. Fuji experience.
Waking up to stunning Mt. Fuji views from our room was absolutely amazing and one of the highlights of our trip. This was also one of the few hotels we found that could accommodate 4 people in one room with a guaranteed Mt. Fuji view, which was a huge plus for us.
The location is excellent, the staff were wonderful, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend HOTEL MYSTAYS Fuji Onsen Resort to anyone visiting the Mt. Fuji area."
"The food selection was amazing and when our A/C didn’t work in one of our rooms, they quickly relocated us to another set of rooms, with a beautiful view and massage chairs! The kids loved it!"
"Not what we were expecting (it was really big which is not the type of place we normally stay) but if you are just having a couple of nights it is fine. Good shuttle bus service to the station which you can use to get to ''town'' and then wander back through bars/restaurants for the evening. Close to lake front and bridge to get great early morning views of the mountain. Convenience stores close by. Breakfast is very cafeteria style but more than adequate to set you up for the day out. Rooms are small so this is for people who will be out and about. Would be good for groups as you can have shared meals in the breakfast area at other times of the day."
"Our stay at Hakone Kowakien was wonderful. Just to clarify we stay in the Hakone Kowakien Hotel. (Not the Ten-yu) I notice there were mix up of reviews when I was researching the hotel before our trip.
The area around the hotel are breathtaking and the grounds beautiful.
They are doing some work outside of the dining area while we were there so the windows are covered up and you don’t get a view while you are eating. We opted for breakfast and dinner during our stay. They had a good variety of food to choose from. I find I had a hard time trying everything because I get full long before that. It is a buffet so it does feel a bit chaotic and cafeteria like. But it worked well for us as a family. My son can eat whatever he likes.
Our room was on the 5th floor overlooking the mountains and trees. It was a nice change of scenery after spending 5 nights in the middle of Tokyo. The rooms are minimal but clean and in great condition.
We enjoyed the Onsen on the roof. I find it was a great way to wake up in the morning and wished I had stay longer to enjoy it. We also booked a private bath. For ¥2500 I highly recommend it if you are shy.
We also made use of the pass to Yunessun. We only went to the part where you wear a bathing suit. Over all we enjoyed it. The change room and showers were clean. The pools are a little hit and miss. It has definitely passed its prime. It is worth a go if the hotel gives you free passes to go there but I would not pay much to go in otherwise."
Hostels are a great way to stay for a lower cost, so you can save your budget for sightseeing.
