"Booked at last minute, (same day) i asked for a shower due to mobility issues, on arrival told all rooms had walk in showers but Linda had moved things around so that i was in a twin on the ground floor with a wet room above and beyond. The room was clean, nice carpet to walk on, bed was comfy and linen was clean crisp and really white, the towels 2 sets provided i was eco so only used one set these were equally white and really soft. Plenty of hot waterwet room was spotless looked like it had been recently redone as tiling looked new and all grouting looked white, ive watched 4 in a bed so thougt id do the tv dust test spotless, found dust on the lightbulbs but lets be fair, so what. Lovely small bar area which doubles as a breakfast/ big tv room breakfast included no its not cooked but theres a great range of cereals that should satisfy 99.9% of guests, you'll always get one! brown or white bread, butter/margarine choice of marmalade jams or marmite choice of croissants, theres a toaster and microwave orange juice and teas and coffee for the price id say perfect. The bar was great a choice of tap beers/lagers theres a good choice of wines and spirits as well as a wide rande of sift drinks at sensible prices, well done for not being a rip off hotel and even better than genuinely pleasant staff to have a good conversation with talking of which Linda was having a bad day but being a professional she didn't take it out on any customers and still managed a laugh and a smile"

"I checked in late to the hotel and the staff were friendly and helpful. Food was not being served apart from desserts or cheese board. They also advised the restaurant across the road were still serving food. I opted for the cheese board and was not disappointed. Lovely selection of stilton cheeses, biscuits and onion pickle. The hotel room I stayed was is in a period part of the property so had all of the lovely quirky bits (uneven floor, creaking wood, etc.). It was a large room and all was very clean. The room included Nespresso coffee machine and you could order fresh milk. Bed was comfortable and room was quiet. Breakfast was a good selection of cooked meals and continental (cereals and fruit). The food was served quickly and it was tasty. Would recommend staying in the hotel. "

"Spent 2 nights here the staff were very helpful and friendly The room was very comfortable with plenty of storage space and air conditioning very good as it was 30 degrees during our stay. The pool area was very good. We only ate in the restaurant on one evening and it was very good."

"Everything about this hotel was stellar. The room, gardens, restaurant, staff, and location were absolutely outstanding. I absolutely plan to return. Not a negative, but to be informative, I am 6’3”, and most historic structures were designed for much shorter people. That said, I only had to duck my head a couple of times. It will not impact in any way my decision to return. Couldn’t have been happier. "

"St Ives is a nice place, it still has a tradition, no chain, department store for goodness sake. The Golden Lion is a good base to explore from. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped. The bar and restaurant is nicely laid out and decorated. Breakfast was excellent. All in all, really nice. Would I stay again? Yes, most definitely."
