"I stayed at the Dover Marina Hotel & Spa prior to my cruise and overall had a pleasant stay. The hotel is full of character and appears to be housed in a historic building, which gives it a charm that many modern hotels lack. My room was comfortable and well-equipped with a kettle, tea and coffee, a safe, hairdryer, air conditioning, and quality toiletries including shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and body lotion. The shower was excellent with plenty of hot water, and the bed was very comfortable. The location is one of the hotel’s greatest strengths. It is situated directly across from the harbour, making it a lovely place for a walk, and it is also within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants. The staff were friendly and helpful, including arranging taxis when needed. The breakfast offered good value when added to the room reservation. My only significant concern is accessibility. There are several steps leading to the main entrance. While there is a ramp, I observed guests attempting to use it only to find the door at the top locked, forcing them to turn around and carry their luggage up the steps. For guests with mobility challenges, wheelchairs, or heavy luggage, this could be difficult and is something I hope the hotel addresses. Check-in was at the advertised time of 3 p.m. and my room was not available earlier, but there was no delay once check-in time arrived. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend the hotel to travellers looking for a comfort"

"Parked right outside entrance in semi private parking, very easy registration, room spacious,clean, blackout curtains, and bathroom with wonderful big tub!!! Great Bombay Saturday dinner selection - what a lovely extra surprise. Lovely, attentive and efficient staff, every one, from chefs to reception. Peaceful landscaped grounds for refreshing wander after long drive. Superb value breakfast. Highly recommend."

"On the back of the bedroom door is a card you can hang up if you do not want your room serviced that therefore implies the room would be serviced as would normally be expected. But it wasn't and when I queried it with reception they said the rooms have not been serviced since covid. If that is the case visitors should be pre warned that the room would not be cleaned, waste bins not emptied,no replenishment of beverage trays, no clean towels . You have to ask for these services . "

"The only thing that spoilt the stay was the outrageous parking charge. I don't know what you are paying for as there is no security cameras, no security barrier and no one patrolling the car park. Anyone can walk in off the street into the carpark so what are you paying for???? Might as well park in the road."

"This is an old building that has been renovated but restricted by its character which is a good thing. The floors are squeaky, but the rooms are clean and airy with large windows, some of which overlook the ocean. The staff was generally friendly except for the overweight desk clerk who kept my breakfast order claiming she did not know who it was for, despite having my name, room number and access to my telephone and email address on the check-in information right there on her computer. She also happened to be the same clerk who had me waiting for 20 mins to check out while she yakked of the telephone, so no, I won't be using them again as much as I liked the area."
