On the positive side, the staff are incredibly nice, the hotel is located in a quiet area, there is a nice supply of soap, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner in the room, the room has a safe, the lobby bar is open 24 hours (although at a certain time they don’t serve cocktails, just beer, wine, and we’ll drinks), the location is acceptable (there were others on the royal mile, old town, or even the Voco Edinburg in Haymarket which ultimately would’ve been more convenient, but we were able to get most places within a 7-25 minute walk.
In terms of opportunity, my room was not as pictured. I booked a premium king room which is pictured with two chairs next to a table by a large window. This was ideal since there were two of us and we often like to sit and have coffee in the morning or play a game at night. The two chairs were not in my room which I mentioned to the front desk. They expressed surprise that I expected there to be two chairs in a room for two people and said they would pass it on to housekeeping to address the next day. The next day still no chairs. When I again raised this issue, they said they would let the manager know. The next day still no chairs. It doesn’t seem like a big deal, but it is when you’re trying to put your shoes and socks on on an elevated bed, when every thing you choose to eat in the room has to be eaten in bed because there’s nowhere to properly sit. It quite ruined my perception of the hotel and I would not stay here again.
