"We had an early morning arrival, and David was very helpful in arranging an early check-in and upgrading us to an available room. Great location - walkable to everything. We also really enjoyed the bar."
"The reception and front desk staff were consistently kind and helpful. The location is excellent - very convenient for getting around, with plenty of things to see and do just minutes away.
As a solo female traveler, I did find that there wasn’t much within comfortable walking distance of the hotel after about 9 p.m. The hotel does have a cute bar that stays open until around 11, but it felt fairly quiet and not very lively when I was there alone.
My only real issue was with the elevators. One was completely out of service during my stay, and the other was not always reliable. Being on the fifth floor, this meant having to use the stairs multiple times, which was quite inconvenient."
Mount Royal Hotel Edinburgh by The Unlimited Collection
10/10 Excellent
"The hotel was clean, the staff was great, and it was located very centrally. Less than 5 minute walk to the train station. 10 minute walk to tour bus pickup point. 10-15 minute walk to Edinburgh Castle. Rooms were pretty quiet and very comfortable. There is no mini fridge."
"I woke up early to enjoy a coffee, but what a disappointment: not a single croissant or pain au chocolat in sight. I was hoping, as usual, for a proper breakfast."
