As a result of COVID-19, travelling today comes with a few additional challenges. Take note of these handy tips before jumping on your plane to Eastern Iceland:

• Know what rules and restrictions apply to both your origin and destination. It may not be possible to travel depending on local circumstances, so don't forget to check before you book your flight.
• When you go through airport checkpoints, do not remove your face mask. You will be asked to briefly lower it for identification purposes. Those who refuse to wear a face mask may face civil penalties and may also be denied boarding.
• Instead of handing a TSA agent your boarding pass, position it directly on the scanner yourself. After that, hold it up for inspection.
• One liquid hand sanitizer container is now allowed in your carry-on luggage. It must be no larger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll have to remove it from your bag at the X-ray machine for screening.
• Remove personal items from your pockets, such as your keys, phone and wallet, and place them in your carry-on instead of the bins. This will minimize handling during the screening process.
• If you're bringing food through the security checkpoint, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This reduces the likelihood that a TSA agent will need to touch your carry-on bag or food container for inspection.
