"Arriving at the Showboat Hotel our room was not acceptably clean. The floor was sticky and covered with dirt, mini fridge had mold, and the balcony had dirt/bird droppings that was clearly not kept up with. I called the hotel desk which is not in on the weekends, after speaking with hospitality we were sent a housekeeper. "This was, without a doubt, the most bizarre and worst experience that I have had at a hotel. I was traveling with my girlfriend after a long, stormy road trip. We are not fussy people and would have been happy with a fairly clean, safe room. We received neither. We walk in to our room after a long road trip and see that half of the window is missing and there were no curtains. They had attempted to cover the window with a piece of cardboard and some tape. We attempted to turn on the heating system, which would not heat up the room. Immediately across from us are huge windows of the building next door. When we go down to the front desk to try to get the curtains or a room change. We mentioned that we are a gay couple who are unfamiliar with the area and feel very unsafe without curtains. The attendant was unable to help and did not offer a room change to us. As we returned to the room, we noticed large strands of hair across the bathroom floor and in the shower. No attempt had been made to clean it. We tried to turn the shower on and the handle crashed to the ground. When confronted with these issues, the manager attempted to scam me with a sketchy "all-expense" paid trip to the Dominican Republic via text message. With no curtains, no heat, no clean bathroom, and unprofessional management, this was a horror stay. For your safety, stay far, FAR away."
