The view from the patio of Green Dot Stables is of the backside of the currently abandoned and forever in some state of rehabilitation, Michigan Central Station. The station opened in 1913 and remained operational until 1988. At the time of its construction, it was the tallest rail station in the world. A personal connection to this building would be that my father shipped out from this station to Marine boot camp after being drafted in the Korean War. A return trip for more photos and further exploration is definitely on the horizon.
I'd heard about Detroit and the buildings abandoned from the declining economy. None more majestic nor haunting though than this epic train station.

Incredible VEGAN gyro at this great little place in downtown Detroit. I’ve been hungry for it since I had it. Got it with chili cheese fries. Yum. The menu is entirely vegan. What a gem. It is in an area that looks to be actively gentrifying, so a fair number of boarded up and vacant lots, but close to tons of venues. #OnTheRoad
