Our main concern was Gillian at the front desk. Upon arrival to the hotel, we were met by Gillian, who immediately asked to see a card & ID. After handing over the requested items, we were informed we couldn’t use the card presented. My wife assured her the card was valid, but she stated she could not check us in without a certain card. We do not use our banks cards while traveling due to our information being compromised. But okay, whatever…we understand policies, seeing as though we own a food truck business. So, we step to the side to transfer funds to our personal account. While waiting, several other guests checked in. Gillian, who had been oddly monotone with us, proceeds to happily greet those other guests. My wife and I took note of how she allowed one guest who said she didn’t have her card to check in. Not just that, but after being told by the same patron that she couldn't remember the last four of her card on file, they engage in a friendly conversation while Gillian finishes the check in. Next, she checks in another guest, which by the way, never presented his card. He just ran it through the machine. Finally, we make it to the front again. Gillian takes my card and examines it before sliding it back across the counter for me to run. Once again, her voice was monotone—almost to the point it was inaudible. I can’t say for sure that she was more biased to a certain group, but what I can say confidently, is that we felt stereotyped.
