8.8/10 Excellent! (1,003 reviews)
This was a great place to stay at the end of our trip. It's located near the tram and you can easily get into the city center. The building is older, but they have done a great job with refurbishing. The room does lack some ventilation, but that is somewhat expected with older buildings. The staff were friendly and nice.

8.4/10 Very good! (1,013 reviews)
Room was nice. The bar attached was noisy, however, earplugs were provided. Staff were exceptional as was the breakfast. Really good location. If you come by train and have luggage I would recommend taking a taxi. Enjoyed our brief stay.

The staff couldn’t have done more for us and our furry companion. We can’t wait to come back. The cocktails are superb!

9.2/10 Wonderful! (315 reviews)
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Thistle Suites in Edinburgh. Our suite was spacious, clean and comfortable for our group of 4. We enjoyed the living area and kitchen amenities. Front desk staff was accommodating and helpful. One of the best things about this accommodation is the location in Newtown. Close to the train and bus station and easy walking distance to the Old town. Communication with the property was effortless. The only issues I would mention is that the size of the bed in the master room is definitely not a North American Queen and that the smell in some of the halls and lobby area was really bad, suggestive of dead mice. Thankfully this smell was not evident in our room. Aside from that, the room was terrific and we would definitely stay there again.

"Great location, but run down rooms and amenities. From the outside and immediate entrance, the hotel looked ideal with its great location (near to airport, close to city centre, literally next to the zoo). However, in our experience, the room was tired and looked rundown albeit had a great view! ..."

"There’s only one older gentleman that we found helpful his name is Alassdaier. Aside from that no smiling faces at the front desk. The room was filthy. Carpets stained, shower hadn’t been scrubbed and cleaned properly. Black stains on shower stall. Towels are dingy. Coverlet removed and stained decorative ..."

"Edinburgh is generally expensive in terms of hotels. This property is so run down and yet it can charge as much since the others are expensive. It's ok but it can be better."
