As a lone ,older, female traveler I must say that the staff could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and considering that I spoke very little French. They could not have been more helpful. The room was spacious, very clean , comfortable and extremely quiet. The breakfast facilities were adequate and there was plenty of variety. Again the staff were very attentive and friendly. I can recommend Hotel Vatel and would not hesitate to stay there again.

Beautiful hotel with wonderful staff. We arrived late on Monday evening and were able to get a seat at the rooftop bar to have a light dinner and drinks. The entrance to the hotel is dramatic, like something you'd see in an art gallery. The rooms are clean, smart and stylish, with great bathroom amenities and soundproofing. Beds were firm, which not everyone might enjoy, but we had comfortable and quiet nights' sleep. Would definitely return the next time I'm in Bordeaux.

Can't really fault this hotel. Reception staff and restaurant /breakfast staff were extremely kind and helpful. Everyone spoke English if you can't speak French as well. Stayed in a deluxe room on the first floor facing the main road. Although there was passing traffic you couldn't hear a thing due to the triple glazing. This is our second stay at the hotel. It is conveniently situated in a quiet side street, but within an easy walk to the centre of Bordeaux. Very well decorated and well thought out rooms. Good buffet breakfast, which we took in the restful and very green outside area. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They organised a private wine tasting trip to St Emilion - highly recommended! Preferential rates at the car park just round the corner, We will definitely be back.
