"Hung up in unbelievable traffic in Santa Cruz, I was not able to check into the hotel until 7 AM the next day when they reopened. So I don't have the overnight experience one expects. That said, the room was very clean, the shower had good hot water, and I did get a morning nap on the bed. Fort7nately, it is off the road a bit. But noise carries and young Costa Ricans love their motorcycles. So if you are super noise sensitive that might bother you, but the traffic is really light on that...

Maybe you’ve had the experience of being a border in a family home, where you developed mixed sympathies with your landlords, engaging with them on a social level a feeling part of the family. In this “hostel”, we seemed to be the only tourists in a group of long time boarders— during rainy season tourists are scarce. So you get to feel the rhythm of the home, and understand the economic precarity of those you live among. Marisol, our host, was very inviting...
