Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a seamless experience if you've prepared well. We've put together a list of handy hints that will help get your Oatman holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a pleasure if you pack the right stuff. First of all you'll need basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a clean set of clothes and a good book. Next, make room in your carry-on bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, your medications and perhaps a neck pillow as well. Lastly, don't forget to bring your passport, travel documents and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) won't be allowed on. Sharp objects, like your beloved pocket knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and matches, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your goal here is to be as comfortable as you can. Pick shoes that are easy to slip on and off, dress in loose, breathable clothing and remember to bring a sweater in case you get cold in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by extended periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Wander around the cabin and stretch your legs or do some gentle exercises in your seat to promote better circulation.
