We've got the lowdown on how to make your journey an enjoyable experience. Follow our insider tips and you'll be cruising through airport security and seeing the best of Marland before you know it. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a stress-free experience if you carry the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want a few toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a fresh change of clothes and a good novel. Secondly, find room in your carry-on bag for your mobile phone, a charger, your important medications and perhaps a quality neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, be sure to take your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated by security. Sharp objects, like your trusty pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosols and poisons, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your aim here is to be as comfortable as you can. Choose easy-to-remove footwear, dress in loose, breathable clothing and remember to take a pullover in case it gets cold in the cabin.
- It's likely you've heard about deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of sitting. To reduce your risk on board, stay hydrated, consider wearing compression socks or tights and keep your legs and feet moving.
