The peak tourist season in Inverness is during July, August and September. September also sees the added visitor boost of the Loch Ness Marathon, which starts at Fort Augustus on the southern side of the loch and ends in the centre of the city. Air fares will be higher during this period, although it’s still possible to find some great deals.
Late spring, during the months of April and May, and early autumn, are great times to catch Inverness in fair weather and without the summer crowds. Hotels and airlines regularly discount during this shoulder season.
