Depending on where you're coming from, your trip to Indo could be completely stress-free or it could drag on forever. We've rounded up some useful travel tips that will help you start your unforgettable escape on a positive note. What to pack in your hand luggage:

• A plane trip can be a cruisy experience if you've got all the right gear. Firstly, you'll want some basic toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a spare set of clothes and something to read. Secondly, find a spot in your hand luggage for your mobile phone, a charger, any vital medications and maybe a cosy neck pillow too. Last, but definitely not least, remember to bring your passport, travel documents and some money.

• While the list of prohibited items differs between airlines, the general rule to follow is nothing sharp, flammable or explosive. This includes things like screwdrivers, knives, fuels and bleaching agents. Sporting equipment like ice skates, and objects that could injure passengers, such as guns and swords, can't come on board with you either.

What to wear on a flight:

• Comfort should be your main concern when choosing what to wear on board. Loose, breathable clothing is a wise choice, as are flat, slightly roomy shoes.
• You're probably aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. To lower your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression tights or socks and move your lower limbs often.

A little pre-planning before your flight will make your trip to Indo easy and painless. We've rounded up some handy tips for a speedy journey through security:

• Be sure to keep your travel documents and ID close by. They'll be the first things you'll be asked to present to security.
• The X-ray machine is up next. Empty your pockets and remove anything that is likely to beep. This includes things like headphones or earphones, as well as your coat or jacket. They'll all need to go on the X-ray conveyor belt.
• Your electronic devices like laptops and phones will also have to go on a tray for inspection. No need to worry though, you'll be back online in no time.
• Any gels or liquids, such as perfume or toothpaste, that you want to bring on board must be no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres). They must also all fit inside a quart-size (one litre), clear zip-lock bag.
• The right choice of footwear can save you a few precious minutes. Hiking boots are often required to be removed and X-rayed separately. Slip-on shoes usually aren't.
• Sharp items are not allowed on board. They'll be seized at security, so pack them in your checked bags.
