Depending on where you're coming from, your journey to Emerald could be a breeze or it could go on forever. We've rounded up some useful travel tips that will help you start your next big adventure on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be easy if you take the right things. First things first, you'll need toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and some deodorant, a clean pair of socks and a magazine or two. Next, make room in your bag for your phone and charger, your medications and perhaps a quality neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to take your passport, travel papers and your bank cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Leave all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Sharp objects, like your treasured pocket knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and strong acids, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of a plane aren't the place for a fashion parade. Layer up with comfortable clothing and opt for shoes that are enclosed, flat and easy to slip on and off.
- Most travellers are aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. To lower your risk on board, stay hydrated, consider wearing compression socks and do gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat.
