Chatuchak market opens at 5pm on Friday. You can still find some shops during the week, but weekend is the best. Also, I found that some of the things were cheaper to buy in the mall rather than the market.

Its hot and busy but it is what it is...an experience! Look out for the 5 baht ice lollies. They were a life saver and delicious. We had 3 each but woukd have had more earlier in our visit had we of known they were so good and cooling.
