"I thought that my room & the restaurant/bar area were very smart & clean, tho I did find a "used" nappy in the bottom drawer in my bedroom on the last day of my stay. I had not previously looked in that drawer. In general the (mostly young) staff were friendly, polite , helpful & efficient. Tho when I mentioned that my room had not been "made up" on one occasion, I was assured that would be attended to, & was disappointed to find that did not happen. The food was generally excellent, including the Wee Breckie, and evening meals. The continuous background music was a bit "wearing" & often somewhat loud when trying to have conversations. On one occasion I was awakened @ about 4.30 am with very loud music from downstairs which was audible thru my open window (for fresh air). Generally, I was very impressed with Mill & Brae, with the exception of these "niggles""

"Beautiful hotel set in a lovely area. Overall staff were very friendly however there were quite a few times across the stay that we had to wait a while to be seen to. There was a wedding on the day we arrived, which obviously we expected with it being a wedding hotel but they had the drinks reception at 2.30PM which is the time of check in, and the drinks reception was in the main reception which was a bit of a nightmare for getting luggage in, and was very awkward. We took our baby to the soft play which was a nice option to have but most of the toys for babies were broken or out of battery which was a shame and is an easy fix. Pool was fantastic, family changing facilities was the best I've seen and staff there were excellent. We had Dinner in the restaurant which was okay. Took a while to be seated and lack of staff in the restaurant meant to took a while when asking for something. My wife asked for steak frites and only got a steak which was quite strange. Breakfast was included which was nice, however there was quite a few items that were already finished and we were down quite early. Overall, it felt like other hotel guests might be seen as an afterthought when there's a wedding on. Which is a real shame as the hotel is excellent and we were really looking forward to it. "
