It replaced the original wooden structure built in the 1880s that eventually collapsed. A stone cottage was built adjacent to this spot for the water manager to live in while maintaining water levels for the farmers and citizens of Carlsbad.

Magical perfection
Exceptional! A perfect place in every sense! Great location, super clean and comfortable. Not only exactly as advertised, but better. We had a family stay to visit Carlsbad Caverns. We were all super comfortable and happy with the stay. Would do it again in a heart beat!

The quiet in the area was great to just relax in the room. The staff was so nice, accommodating, and always available. My favorite part was the kitchenette with all basic cooking utensils so that I could cook my meals instead of ordering out.
