It’s a cool place to escape from heat and sun, hang out to read or play cards, and take in the really interesting history and photos of early Gamboa and canal construction. I also really appreciated the efforts the hotel makes to go green. "

"My girlfriend and I had a great 3-day stat at the Principe hotel in Feb 2026 for a phenomenal price. The hotel was very nice, quite and clean with large rooms. We actually got moved right away to a far larger room (for no charge) because the A/C in our first room was not working properly. The staff could not have been nicer. The location of the property in the nice and safe Congrejo neighborhood was great, with plenty of good restaurants steps away. In truth, the Principe was one of the best stays/deal I have ever had in my travels. "

"The windows and walls of the hotel are green with mold. The separation between one room to the other is paper thin - I could hear the couple next door going at it. The bathroom shower flooded with ease. The vinyl wood floors were coming off from humidity. There were no amenities (no hand towel, no soap, no hair dryer). Seemed to be an hourly hotel for unassuming couples."
