Big Bend Ranch State Park

The Closed Canyon hike in Big Bend Ranch State Park was completely deserted when we went on a Tuesday in April. We hiked further than the 0.7 mile indicated on the signage, and ended up scooting and scrambling up the most interesting narrow and smooth chutes. We heard the song of the elusive canyon wren, too. Nice hotel in a central part of town. The Parker valet service was great - kind and helpful. Shout out to Basha who was awesome. The rooms were nice. With kids, wish there was a microwave where we could reheat food or even one available in the lobby downstairs. We got vouchers for breakfast and it was a bit confusing. I had added it onto our room reservation and thought we would get breakfast for each person and instead just got it for the adults. It needs to be more clear. Housekeeping, Miss our room one day and we had no towels, toilet paper, beds made. After a few attempts at the front desk, we finally got everything two hours after our request, laid into the night. This is not acceptable. Rooms were a bit dirty. Stains on the sofas and even a blood stain on our sheets. Overall, for this four star hotel, we would’ve expected better. Probably won’t return here again.

This is my favorite hotel in Houston, love the service and breakfast is amazing. Love the Nespresso machine in the rooms and the snacks :). It feels luxurious without being pompous, staff is so nice and helpful.
