Top Berwick-upon-Tweed Hotel Reviews

Purdy Lodge
8/10 Good
"Excellent location for all the Castles and other attractions nearby including the coast. Suprisingly quiet being so close to the A1. Staff are excellent and the food was good. The property itself needs updating and some refurbishment of carpets, fixtures and fittings including the bathroom."

Bailiffgate Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"We have been travelling for nearly 4 months and staying in various hotels, and I will say the Bailiffgate Hotel was by far one of the best hotels so far. We could not fault anything from the room, the welcoming, the food and the staff. Location was superb, opposite the castle and in walking distance to town with a variety of shops, friendly pubs. We will definitely stay again. Thank you to all the staff"

"Loved this place...nice and quiet, clean and very well maintained. The (female) owner is a sweetie and was extremely helpful! Great food too. Loved the room..thank God there was a decently sized shower...North Americans appreciate this feature perhaps more than most! Very comfortable..."

Doxford Hall Hotel & Spa
8/10 Good
"The hotel is in a lovely setting and at first sight seemed to be everything you’d want in a country house hotel. The receptionist was very friendly, gave a short history of the hotel and showed us to our room, pointing out the facilities and where to find them. I had booked the restaurant prior to arrival. The evening meal on the first night was tasty, breakfast on both mornings also good, using good quality ingredients. The evening meal on the second night was not so good and left us feeling that some elements of it were too fussy with too many flavours put together. The vegetarian soufflé was awful, just a mound of stodge. We felt that £75 per person was far too much to pay for a three course meal especially as we had no alcohol with dinner. On looking around further, the hotel is a bit tired and rundown, a long handled cob webber is required, the window casements need cleaning, the sealant in the bathroom had black spots and wall paint needed touching up. The hotel is handy for visiting Bamburgh Castle, Seahouses and Holy Island."
