Nice place. The bed was very comfortable. The water pressure leaves a lot to be desired. The breakfast was fabulous.

Disappointing
Our room was nothing.like pictures. Bath room dirty.room very shabby . Had to go outside to back of hotel then up a shabby flight of stairs & hallway to reach room . Have honestly stayed in better premier for far less money. Cooked breakfast very good but toast burnt both mornings and no choice of cereal or fruit on menu . Disappointing as we often stop for a drink here and looked forward to staying .

Great food, Amazing staff hotel it self walls need repainting in and out rooms, Room had very old cobwebs around windows .. can't fault staff or food just the grim look of hotel

The room was very disappointing. Cold, radiators not working. Cracked bathroom sink. Bathroom lights not working. Breakfast not good. Soggy bacon and bread, hard avacado. would not stay again.

The Kings Arms is really convenient for the train station in Berkhamsted, just a short walk away. The room was clean and comfortable, although the corridors look tired and in need of some TLC. The food in the restaurant was really good - fabulous freshly cooked pizza in the wood-fired oven for dinner and full English for breakfast.

Very overpriced for what is effectively a B&B. Albeit a nice restaurant. But rooms are accessed via the dustbins and the stairwells haven’t been decorated in years. Rooms are musty and clearly stinking hot during the summer as there were three fans. They do warn about parking, but it was 10 minutes away, not five. And you need to keep updating your ticket if in the long term parking. Very painful. There was another hotel down the road which had parking right on the back, but didn’t try it. Location is good for outside restaurants and there seemed to be a lot of choice although Berkhamsted pretty underwhelming.

The room I had bore no resemblance to the photo - very misleading. Local parking is expensive and difficult. Some staff were helpful, others not so much.

perfect place to stay for business
We had a business trip in near by Tring and the Kings arms was a perfect place to sleep and have a drink. Rooms are clean, well equipped and quiet throughout the stay.

Beautiful period property with nice big room with en-suite. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was exceptional - much better than your normal pub fair with very extensive breakfast options. I will be using this hotel again on my next visit, no question.

I was put into room 9, out the back, through the kitchen access area. Access is looking very tired. The wall-mounted room heater did not work, but they had a convector heater. The water dribbled out of the basin tap and the basin plug did not stop the water so I had to wait 2 minutes to get a bowl of warm water to wash in. I didn't attempt to use the shower. One night was enough! That said, breakfast was good, but at over £82 for B&B it's not the quality I'd expect.

There must be better hotels in the area
It was a bit of a shocking experience. The room was dated and not thoroughly cleaned (I have some pictures to prove). The carpet was full of stains and the wall above the bed was very filthy. There was also a big crack on the washing basin in the bathroom. There was noise just outside thoughout the early hours of the monring just below the room (from 3am onwards) which left us awake for most of the night. The breakfast was good but it was served cold after waiting on the counter for a while to be served. We mentioned that to the reception. One of the staff offered us 2 drinks on the house and took down my bank details to send me a refund as a gesture of appreciation of the experience that we went through. Of course, that never happened. I followed it up a few times and in the end they wouldn't answer the phone nor respond to my emails. Overall, it was not a good experience for the price they were charging. I'm also disappointed that the staff did not respond to my calls and emails and did not honour the promise of a refund. This is the first time that this happens to us after so many years of using Hotels.com.

Excellent customer service
The first room had a few problems but the staff dealt with this swiftly and very helpfully and moved us to another room... As well as offering us complimentary drinks for the inconvenience. The food at the King's Arms is really good too...can't fault the breakfast.

No overnight parkingat hotel secure parking given
No advice given from hotels .com re overnight free parking at sister hotel (closed during Covid) half mile from Kings Arms.limited street parking . Best to offload luggage at hotel rear ,check in, and drive to overnight parking place, walk back empty . Full Breakfast excellent and staff very good. Limited menus around other eateries.So the Best place to eat in Berkhamsted

We booked for an executive room only to find out that we had been put in a standard room which we refused to stay in The carpet was disgusting and filthy ;cracked paint and the room in poor condition and run down .When i complained the staff were great and put us in the sister hotel Penny Farthing which was obviously more of our time taken up sorting it all out and moving.I certainly will not be going back.

Location very good. Rooms very tired. Need a revamp. Rooms in present condition far too expensive. Staff lovely but rooms definitely need attention, new carpets and in the room we stayed in mattress was awful. Bridal Suite although not perfect is one of the better rooms.
