The Merchant Hotel was a bank in its previous life. As a former banker myself, I enjoyed hearing about it’s history, and seeing how beautifully it has been converted to its present use. Magnificent!

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel, the only downside was an alarm going off several times at 1am 3am. Aside from this it was fine. The breakfast included was perfect. Good location and great customer service.

Beautiful hotel and nice staff who will do anything for you. Comfortable, luxurious and building is stunning. Only criticism is that I think 3pm is too late for check in. 12/13:00 is more realistic.

Very central comfortable hotel

Stayed in Victorian room, quite dark but very comfortable , art deco rooms much nicer . Got twin room first when I requested a king bed . Changed us no problem. Put a balloon and chocolate on the bed as a surprise for birthday which was lovely . Great central location .

Super room easy check in … parked the car but didn’t say it would be £35 pounds to do so … would not let us have food in the bar at 9.30 only room service which 1hour and 40mins arrived even every time we called down they said 5mins … waste of a evening in the city didn’t get to enjoy the hotel bar .. they took it off the bill but they served others food non residents so overall disappointed… reception staff very pleasant.. it just was a bad night .
