The only thing positive was the staff and food. The room was grotty, part of the carpet was thread bare, the toilet door was too small for the hole and gaps surrounding it. The walls were all marked and the paint was in such poor condition. The stairs up to the room was horrific, the condition of the walls, carpet and paint work was terrible. Excuses were made by staff stating “work being done” sorry no excuse for the condition it was in. There was building materials in the corridor too. I definitely won’t be back there, as I said staff very friendly and food great. The price was way over what the value was, no breakfast included either, which was poor.

Confortable bed and very nice view. My room had a see view over the marina. The room door did not lock properly from the outside. From the inside there is not lock at all. You can only secure the door using the chain. The house keeping did not leave any instant coffee twice. Otherwise the personnel was very polite and pleasant.

The Nines is on the waterfront across from RNLI offering incredible views of Belfast Lough. The hotel is undergoing substantial renovations under new ownership. The renovated rooms are top notch. The older rooms, which have not been updated, are tried. This is not due to the current ownership but as a result of years of under investment by the previous owners. The current owners are undertaking the renovations methodically This hotel allows easy access to the sea, various restaurants and cafes such as the Rabbit Rooms, Red Berry and the high street. Premier location for your summer visit to Bangor

Potential for the future.
The hotel will be great in the future I have no doubt , and the service now is friendly and professional . However the bedrooms are shabby, old and crying out for a full refurb which we are told is in the plan somewhere. They are as clean as they can be , but cleaning old stuff is difficult. Think Faulty Towers X 5.

Absolutely lovely place. We stayed there and got the train into Belfast. The staff were very welcoming and efficient. The rooms are mainly traditional with some modern touches. Everything you require (tea, coffee, shampoo, body lotion etc) even homemade shortbread on arrival. We will definitely stay there again. Thank you

We stayed a night at the nines and the room was comfortable with tea and coffee making available, iron, etc the hotel itself was clean and had a nice look and feel. The only downside was the fact that the hotel restaurant and bar seemed to be run like a separate business to the hotel accommodation side if things. So when you ordered a drink at the bar you could not sit on the seating area because that was all reserved for bookings. Because of this hotel guests either had to sit outside or at the bar which made that area quiet congested. Also when it came to having hotel breakfast the service was extremely slow and seemed disconnected with hotel guests being treated as an afterthought, or so it seemed to me. I guess overall our stay was pleasant enough, but more attention should be given to hotel guests and more pleasant waiting staff would make for a better experience.

Great bar and restaurant area which has just been renovated. Bedrooms need upgrading to make the hotel better as they were a bit dated and worn. Still enjoyed our stay as it’s in a great area and the people are all very friendly.

Lovely room and super views. Hallways and stairs are a bit tired looking. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent if a little slow on the service.

We booked when this hotel was under prior ownership. Didn’t realize there was a DJ blasting music in the bar until 1:30-2:00 in the morning on weekend nights. The music was so loud in our room. Hotel seemed like an afterthought for the venue who is more interested in restaurant and bar. Not recommended.

I am really sorry that you did not enjoy your experience at The Nines. We are a completely new venue that is trying to cater for everyone, we only have a DJ on a Saturday evening, just to see how it goes. We are extremely aware that this does not suit everyone and have definitely taken you review very seriously.

Salty dog was very comfortable Unfortunately they were starting renovations & weren't able to provide breakfast but provided a croissant & when we first got up there wasn't any hot water but that heated up later

Difficult to use the narrow stairs with suitcases - 3 floors. We did have help. Rooms and beds were lovely. Beautiful view overlooking the harbour & ocean. Breakfast location not ideal for party of 5. Low sofa on one side. Could not use. Had to take 2 tables. Appreciating how old the small hotel was — well over 100 years - it was as well cared for as possible. Doing renovations which will help. Overall we enjoyed our stay and didn’t let the little inconveniences spoil our stay.
