"The room was well equiped with everything we needed as well as being spotlessly clean. It was especially nice to have a big screen tv, a fridge and ironing equipment as well as a digital bedside clock. The air con worked really well. The breakfast was really nice with a good selection of items for full english as well as contental. The only thing we were disappointed with was the bacon which looked very tasty but didnt taste very nice at all. The sausages however, were excellent. The hotel is only a short walk from the station and is very close to many shops, pubs and other attractions."
"The room was small, bedding didn’t feel luxurious at all, pillows very thin. The doors to the rooms were not soundproof so you can hear everything in the corridor. You have to pay for parking at this hotel! Overall a little disappointing for the price, may as well have saved some money and stayed in a travelodge "
"Hotel is in a lovely peaceful setting. Nice outdoor areas. Harry's bar had good food. We didn't have time for the spa so can't comment on that, but we really enjoyed our one night stay"
"The hotel is very interesting with it's prison history, though that is also slightly a hinderance. We were in the Houses of Correction and it didn't really feel part of the hotel, you had to leave the main hotel travel across the courtyard to another building that actually felt a little bit like a travel lodge heading to our room.
The staff were amazing though, from check-in, to room service, to breakfast and checkout - So absolutely nothing to fault there!
I'd just recommend requesting a room in the main part of the hotel as that might be better than what we had."
"Our room in the Main building was spacious & spotlessly clean. Our greeting on arrival was warm & efficient. The free parking is ideal.
Well done & thank you to the whole team."
"Staff were hit and miss. Lucy checked me in and was great but Grace refused to let me borrow a charger even though she said there was a box full in lost property. Breakfast staff not brilliant either. Asked for a pot to put sauce in too be told to put straight on plate, why?
Lager in bar was flat except the one that costs £7.95. Dont take cash. Room was only ok. Would not rush back."
"The main hotel is characterful and pleasant. I found my room in one of the newer blocks to be noisy, more so when a table tennis table was erected under my window. The spa was disappointing, particularly when compared to a MacDonald Spa I am a previous member of. The pool and steam room are shedding tiles in large patches, some lying loose in the bottom of the pool. The Spa had no hot water for showering which rather spoiled my spa day. All staff were pleasant and helpful."
