  • Home of Freeman Walker, outstanding citizen of early Georgia. Born in Virginia in 1780, he came to Richmond County in his youth and studied law. Freeman Walker, in 1826, deeded 70 acres of land to the United States Government to be used as an arsenal-the site now of the Junior College of Augusta. He reserved one acre as a family burial ground, known as the Walker Cemetery. He was the father of Maj. Gen. W. H. T. Walker, CSA. Admitted to the bar in 1802, he followed a life of public service; City Attorney for three years and Mayor of Augusta 1817-19, being the first to hold the city´s chief executive office under the name of Mayor, and Brigade Inspector of Gen. Valentine Walker´s brigade in 1813. He represented Richmond County in both branches of the State Legislature and represented Georgia in the U. S. Senate. A little bit run down in some places, but not bad for the price and the staff/workers were great.

Don't book.

The hotel was nasty, the rooms smelled like smoke and the air conditioner was very loud cycling off and on every 10 minutes. The water was hot and the housekeeping staff were friendly and did a good job.

Room was subpar: dirty, rusty marks everywhere. Looked like it was in disrepair and slightly fixed up to rent out. Bathroom toilet flapper was busted and filled up every5-7 mins and the air conditioner was very loud and taped together. Shower water pressure was good and bed was ok. Would not stay there again.

The pictures must be from another property. The room was gross and never updated like pictures. Pool destroyed like it’s in the Gaza Strip. Back of hotel falling down. Prostitutes walking the streets till sunup

The hotel is under renovations and after 2 attempts, a 3rd room was finally found for our stay. The air conditioner was making a loud humming noise in the first room, the second room we were given, the key wouldn't work when we swiped it and then finally the third room, we had to ask that the smoke detectors be removed because it kept beeping. No trash can and hair was in the sink, plastic fixture on wall for lights were burned and air conditioner in this room didn't cool properly. People hanging outside all time of day/night. Pictures on site are VERY misleading about this property. Maybe with the proper management and staff it can be a nice place, but right now it looks like the local "hotspot for a hookup"

I will never use hotels.com ever again. The hotel was a abomination. I don't blame them but blame hotels.com for not doing the proper research on the quality of the hotel. All I can say is I will never again use hotels.com period

I had a 3-day stay and left one day short, the pictures will show the bad state of repair the facility is, the shower / bathroom was filthy and when I asked to leave and get credit for the night I did not use the staff could not give me a resolution. All I am looking for is a credit

Worst hotel experience we’ve ever had. One bed was broken with the box spring shoved underneath. The bedding was wrinkled, stained, and clearly unwashed. Roaches were crawling in the room. There was a bottle of lubricant in the nightstand drawer. The towel rack was ripped off the wall. Unsafe area with suspicious activity in the parking lot. We were forced to stay a few hours due to exhaustion and had to throw away our luggage afterward. Disgusting. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Our stay was fair. I was there for a business trip. The owner initially refused to give me a receipt because I booked through Expedia but payment went to them. They eventually gave it to me. I needed it for a business expense. The washing machines were both down. The area is being remodeled. Flies were evrywhere from garbage. And someone was blasting music 2 doors down from us. The toilet got clogged, I asked for a plunger, at first thy did not know what I was talking about.

Horrible hotel, filthy, door of bathroom looked like it was chewed. People next door were partying until 5:00am, could not sleep. Worst hotel ever!

Very dirty and unsafe

Trash everywhere rooms were dirty… Lamps did not work… TV was on with no working remote when I walked in. Smelled like someone had smoked… I had chosen this hotel for my dog… But all of the walking areas were covered with cigarette butts and glass. I was honestly afraid that my car was gonna get broken into but luckily the one good thing is the lighting was very bright around the property. This hotel needs to spend some time really cleaning out this place. It is not what the pictures look like or I would’ve never chosen this place.
