“location location location!”

clean and comfortable, coffee making facilities in room and very convenient for tha BART system/ cable cars. didnt eat at hotel but lots of decent cafes etc nearby. in the heart of shopping district. pleasant staff.. great value for money!!!

“Excellent value and location”

I stayed for 3 nights 16 to 19 May 2006. The room was fine, clean, comfortable and quiet. Two things of note - first the excellent service by the reception staff who were courteous, helpful and very efficient. Second, the excellent location, a couple of blocks from Union Square and all the big shops, right outside is the cable-car terminus for the Powell & Market to Fisherman's Wharf line and a few steps away the tram, bus and BART stops on Market.

Had great time in San Francisco.Very glad we picked this hotel.In was in the heart of the main square.It was very clean,staff very helpful,they were also very pleasent.If you dont need hotel with a restaurant then this one is for you.Price very reasonable for the location.

“Location Location Location”

Although a "tired" in its decor, the location was fantastic. It is true that in having a room overlooking Powell Street you are awake with the start of the cable cars (7am-ish). But it all adds to the charm of San Francisco.

“Exellent Location for downtown.”

The bath and surroud sealant had seen better days. The bath was still usable just a bit scratched in the base. Excellent location overlooking the Powel street cable car turn-table. As in any city center there is noise until late, but not over noisy.Staff were very friendly and helpful.

“close to every thing”

The Powell hotel is in a prime location for all attractions. It is right in the centre for shopping and the tram stop which will take you all over the city. Also the metro link is a few hundred metres away which goes stright to the airport if needed. The powel hotel is a fab, kind of old times hotel which all adds to its charater

“Very impressed!”

The Powell Hotel was lovely - quiet, very clean and tidy, staff were very helpful (help you to book trips, etc) and the rooms very comfortable. If you're looking to stay right in the centre of San Fran, near the shops and restaurants then this is the place for you! There's also a tram stop right ourside the door - very handy for getting to Fisherman's Wharf! There were four of us girls (all with excess baggage from too much shopping!) and we had ample room to put everything. The bathroom was clean and beds were very comfortable. Overall, a lovely hotel in an excellent location and very friendly staff - would recommend staying there to anyone.

Great location, not a grand hotel but does the job. Clean and front desk services was good. I have nothing bad to say.

“Good location from which to explore SF”

The Powell is on the edge of the 'Tenderloin', meaning that there are a number of homeless people around at night. This should not put people off though. More importantly it was right next to the cable car terminus, right outside the MUNI train and BART station and within 5 minites of Bloomingdales and Union Square. The hotel was clean and decor was well maintained and modern. The staff were good and helpful. It has a useful snack bar next to the Powell Street entrance that you can get continental breakfast. We would go back there and would much prefer the location to the bland Fisherman's Wharf.

“Great location for everything”

Lovely hotel, rooms a little small but so well located for the cable car, trams etc and the whole Union Square shopping and dining experience. San Fran is fab and this hotel is a great place to stay if you're in town.
