"Great location and full of character! The staff were really friendly and attentive, and made us feel very welcome. We didn't take breakfast or dinner this time, but have done so in the past and the quality of food and service is good. We did enjoy a late afternoon tipple from the bar which was splendid, sitting outside in the long-awaited sunshine. Our room (2nd floor double, overlooking the courtyard) was fine. Quiet (which we had asked for), well-equipped, very clean, with only a couple of...

Vanbrugh House Hotel
4.0 star property
8.6 out of 10, Excellent, (967)
"Had a lovely, peaceful night's sleep at this well located hotel. The room upgrade was a bonus and the suite really lovely. One niggle (directed to all hotel owners, if you've read my other reviews), if you provide hairdryers then please make it a decent one and not one with low power and a coiled cable that means it will not reach far enough to use the mirror! All in all though no complaints and certainly no noise issues."

"This is a very characterful building in an amazing location, nestled in amongst the colleges. It's important to note that in our experience there was nearly no service: when we were there we did not meet a single staff member. But for us this was fine. We spoke to them by phone, and they were very helpful and flexible with us as we solved some checking-in problems (of our own making, not their fault). Don't expect attentive hotel service and modern facilities but do expect a charming quite...
