“An affordable art deco gem”
We booked this as a secret saver - and were absolutely delighted to find we were not only allocated a genuine art deco hotel but one in the centre of the action. Top marks for a 3 star hotel.
“Lovely - recently decorated room, trendy, and great location”
I enjoyed my stay here completely. It was clean, and tredny with more than adequate space. Location is perfect for the shopping, beach and food - I would definitely stay there again - the only down side is the small pool - but with the beach so close - not a real worry !
“We would stay there again.”
This hotel is in a great location. You could find faults if you were being very fussy (not much space in the bathroom, no tea and coffee making facility) but for the price we paid we couldn't fault it. We stopped using the lift as we heard that someone got struck in it and we noticed the safety certificate in the lift was out of date!
“Decent hotel decent location”
This was my third time in Miami so I knew where the President Hotel was and what was nearby. My main reason for booking was the convenient location and the general look of the hotel, expedia were doing a special deal which also swayed me to book here. Location is great ... one block from Ocean Drive and near to Espanola Way and Lincoln Road. Room was lovely, very bright and well decorated with blackout blinds (an essential in my view) and LCD TV. It also had an iron and ironing board which was very impressive. Staff were friendly and helpful A few bad points which you may want to consider: The Free WiFi is terrible - in fact its from a hotel over the road and was not always switched on. I only managed to get connected about 20% of the times I tried. The pool area is tiny and if you are keen on soaking up the rays it is pretty useless as the sun is obscured by very tall plants from the adjacent building. The pool is 4Ft deep. This hotel is not quiet and peaceful! The cleaning staff don't seem to take into account that guests may be trying to sleep and talk very loudly in the corridors, and the walls seem very thin in between the rooms. The doors also slam shut (by design rather than by the guests) and this often interrupted my sleep All in all, a good hotel - very nicely laid out and decorated with well equipped rooms, the downsides I have listed should not stop you from booking there!
“Not what it says on the tin”
Reading the web pages this hotel seemed right for us to stay. Unfortunately the hotel room walls were paper thin and all noise could be heard throughout the hotel and not just the next room. We we were not informed that the Penguin Hotel was their hotel as well and this hotel offered more facilities than the President - eg meals etc - we had to get our meals from local restaurants and therefore deprived The President of extra revenue. Also there was a short cut through The President to the Penguin giving easier access to the beach. On a plus the room and laundry was kept clean daily. The hotel person (Eric) was most helpful once asked and arranged all that we required.
“great room, awful reception....”
Very modern room with flatscreen tv and modern decor... reception look like a youth hostel, and the bar in the lobby played banging loud music... cheapest around, and a great location - good for the young who want to be close to the aciton...
“Not too bad”
I liked a location of this hotel. I stayed here for 2 nights just to sleep over. The room was nice and clean and you have everything you need including free internet. Staff could use a SMILE from time to time and be more professional. This hotel is not too bad, but nothing special. I would come back!
“Tends to be Noisy at Night Time”
This is a great hotel, clean and nicely maintained if you want to be out partying at night with the best of them, but if you want a quiet night's sleep maybe it is best to choose a different hotel. The night staff weren't concerned at all about the loud music or noise at 3 am, and when asked to help, were not interested. I was disappointed in that there are lots of places to have a party and didn't expect the hotel rooms to be as noisy at nighttime.
“Cheap but not cheerful”
Your money doesn't go far in South Beach, and even though this may look expensive compared to hotels outside of South Beach, it's not a great hotel in my opinion. My room had a large iron-shaped burn in the carpet, the beds were really squeaky, you could easily hear noise from other rooms / the corridor / outside, and there is no hotel parking either. The only redeeming feature is that the hotel is well located. However, if I was going to South Beach again, I'd pay a bit more and upgrade to a better hotel.
“Not the best but good on a budget”
Honestly, my room smelled a bit like mildew when I arrived, but then again so does all of South Beach! Easy access to the best sites of SoBe and very close to the nightlife. Not recommended for a work trip--the walls are thin, and the neighborhood is party central!
