The apartment was fine, 2 bedrooms + sofa bed. A very small and crowded shower, a kitchenette and utensils that were not clean at all and to use we had to clean them thoroughly. Good location, good Wi-Fi and good personal service. In terms of cleaning the apartment - the towels and the trash bag were changed, but no cleaning was done beyond that.

very close to the city of Madrid. i love the building itself bocz of the age & where it is located. only downside is the receptionist don't speak that much of English! overall i recommend this place & i will stay here again

Small but confortable. Very good cleaning service, a few blocks from touristic downtown. Mostly gay but good for families too

Great place
Great location, close to metro stations and amnities. The room was relatively clean and beds were super comfortable. Will definately stay here again.

Good location
This is our second time in this hostel.the location is very good near Gran Via.the owners speak english and are friendly .the negative thing is that there is no elivator and we had to climb the stairs with all our luggages.another thing is that I booked a double bedroom with one extra bed for my daughter.and another room with 2 single beds.infact I had to stay in a room with 3 single beds.and the other 2 had to sleep in a double bed instead of 2 single beds.when I told them about the rooms,at check in they said that there was not enough space in the room to make a single bed with the double bed. Didn't complain because we spent only 2 nights. A possitive thing is that they have a kitchen that it is very useful and tea and coffee facilities..

Perfect!!
Perfect location in the heart of madrid. Close to all the main attractions. 5 minutes walk to Santo Domingo and plaza de espana metro station. Hotel was clean with good size rooms and bathroom. Also very nice respontionist. Would recommend for anyone.

This Hostel was in a good location with east access to the shops, local eateries and Metro. We had a big room on the front and expected it to be noisy from the street below but it was dead quiet. There was plenty of tea and coffee available in the foyer. Would come again

Good budget hotel.
It is a good budget hotel. Nice and quite location but a one person front desk who is not available at night and who speaks very little English but will manage to convey his message :). OK wifi connection. Room with AC which works fine. You can't user the computer in the lobby at night.

Good stay Madrid
The directions to get there were a bit off, but everything after that was great. Nice sized room, very very clean, excellent storage in the room, helpful staff, good location. No lift, but they helped carry the bags up. Good security both day and night. Fridge in room was an extra plus. We had no view from our room - just an air space between 4 walls, but the air conditioning worked well and we just slept there. Good place for a good price.

Madrid Pride Stay
My husband and I stayed at Pizarro for two nights during Madrid Pride. The location is great, just a short walk to Chueca and the bars and festivities. The room was a decent size, with a private bathroom. Everything was clean, the AC worked well, and it was nice there was a safe in the closet for passports, etc. Shower is a bit tight, but water temp and pressure were great. Check in and out were easy, and the staff incredibly friendly. Be aware that reception has limited hours and you cannot get inside without a key if they are closed on arrival, so plan your arrival around their hours.

Note there is no soundproofing between the rooms, so some people may need earplugs. The air conditioning worked great and the beds were comfortable enough. An iPad screen is the same size as the TV, so we never used it. Bathroom is compact but functional. There was a safe, a mini fridge (ours didn't work), and decent Wi-Fi in the room. Our room was cleaned daily and fresh towels given. There is a public area where you are able to use a computer, look at books and a larger flat screen TV. Multiple convenience stores and restaurants are all nearby.

The hostal itself is great. The problem is the tapas place across the street. Very loud throughout the night especially on the weekend. Screaming, yelling people walking on the street too. I wouldn't stay here again because of that.

Location his good. The room had a smell, one morning there was no hot water for shower. The room a bit small but workable for a weekend. The bed pillows were not very comfortable.

Hostal Pizarro Review
We arrived at about 9:40pm and the hostel was locked up (the exterior entrance gate was locked) and we had no idea how to call the reception on the intercom. We were standing outside for about 10 minutes before finally dialling a random number on the intercom and successfully paging the reception desk. There was no information about how to call in on our booking or in our literature. The room itself was nice and the bed was comfortable - nothing spectacular, perfect for our needs. Wifi was reliable. The noise level was enough to wake myself and my partner out of a deep sleep. There were people constantly entering and exiting through our hallway, and people in noisy shoes walking up and down stairs above our head for a big part of the night and early in the morning. At one point we did not have hot water in our bathroom, but after checking with the main desk they said it would be back up in about 15 minutes and it was. The neighbourhood was a little unsettling after sunset, but we were never bothered by any of the people in the neighbourhood. Overall we had a pleasant stay, but the noise was a concern to us and caused us to have light sleeps during our stay.

For the price we paid at just over £40 in the centre of Madrid you cannot go wrong. The rooms were clean, bed was very comfortable , private bathroom , free safe and air con. Friendly reception staff. Great location for using the metro, Carrefour around the corner for basics. Would we use again most certainly for the price!

I really enjoyed my stay at the Hostal the staff was really nice even though I'm not fluent in Spanish and the room was clean and had a safe which made me feel better about leaving my passport and jewelry in the room. Would recommend and also stay there again. Great value for money and just off the main area in Madrid.

The hostel is just the 1st floor (stairs from ground floor). Office is only open 9-9pm. It was clean. Free tea and free wifi. No air conditioning. Quiet neighbourhood. Very close to Grand Via. We walked out to the tour bus everyday. Many restaurants and shops in the area. The best place we went to was Lamucca restaurant - great food - and enjoyed sitting outside to enjoy the evenings. Very good price for the location.

Coloured bath towels had discoloured marks on them. Very noisy at night through to early hours of the morning. Doona cover smell of men's deodorant.

It was a great stay. The hotel stay was very polite, but spoke minimal English. I don't speak Spanish, but we got by. The room was very clean and the free wifi connection was great. No complaints, I would suggest to anyone staying in Madrid on a budget.

Very helpful staff, pointed out nearest metro stations/how to get there/printed out our boarding passes for our return flight too! Hotel is very close to the centre, well decorated, cleaned on a daily basis with new towels each time!

I was pleasantly surprised at this little gem! The staff was always present and so helpful. They made recommendations for restaurants, helped with reservations for shows, and took a sincere interest in me and my son, a student in Madrid. Nothing would have made the stay more enjoyable. I feel like they became extended family and future trips to Madrid would not be complete without returning to hostal pizzaro! Hasta luego, amigos queridos!

My wife and I stayed here 3 nights while visiting Madrid on business. Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms and an overall great place to be. We had some issues with travel documents that they helped print out for us, at no additional charge and did so with a smile. We will stay here again next time we're in town.

Lovely old building, but rundown, you need to carry your luggage up the stairs. Staffed during the day only; our flight was early and we couldn't check out properly, had to leave the keys in our door. No hotel on-site parking; there is a parking garage 2 doors down, 18 E for 24 hours; opens at 7 AM. Rooms BASIC, but very clean. 2 twin beds in our room, very small beds! Small fridge that did not seem to be working. Communal area very cramped.

Great! Friendly and helpful staff. In room: air con, safe, en-suite shower, with hairdrier, plenty of lights, fresh towels each day, quiet room. Reception had plenty of cutlery and cups, teas and sugars, and microwave, 2 PCs and free-wifi in hotel. Noviciado metro station was very close, as were shops and central Madrid. Definitely go back again! :)

on arrival i thought it was not open,the frontage totally covered in green mess,no front desk downstairs,had to walk up a flight of stairs and press a bell to see and hope someone was there, the whole place was under reconstrution AND SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AT ALL. I SUGGEST YOU SEND ONE OF UR REPRESENTIVES IN A HURRY TO SEE FOR YOUR SELFS, As for a veiw,what view,a fire escape stairs and a storeroom window covered in a dirty white bedsheet DISCUSTING

Hostal Gay Pizarro
I have no complaints about the hostel, the only thing is there are no windows in the room. But it is very clean, we got fresh towels every day. It´s close enough to the metrostation, you can even walk to the centre within 10 min. If you are looking for a nice ´hostel atmosfere´ this is probably not the place. It´s quiet. Nothing wrong with that.
