Yes, the Hotel Central Luzern is a good, well-run hotel. It's conveniently located, scrupulously clean and serves a great breakfast. But like the rest of Switzerland, it's also very expensive and lacks certain amenities one expects at this price point. For instance, there's no AC. I can't imagine being there in summer. Our tiny room had only one chair and the pillows and towels are shamefully thin. Worst of all, the bathrooms have a frosted glass door which leave little to the imagination when your travel partner is inside.
All of this was fine back in 2007 when the prices were half as much and you were willing to suffer a little because this was Europe. But at these prices, the hotel needs to upgrade - at least with better towels and pillows.
