La Croix Rousse once contained many of the workhouses and factories which allowed Lyon to become a dominant force in Europe's silk production. Stroll along the Saône River on Quai Sain-Vincent or attend a performance at the Opéra de Lyon. The neighborhood also contains a number of narrow alleys, called traboules, which once served workers, and can now be explored with a guided tour.
