Unfortunately we were given room 53, it was impossible to sleep due to the noise from the hotels heating system, we ended up having to change rooms in the middle of the night inorder to get some sleep...so top tip...dont accept room 53

Toil had black stain in system in first room was not much better in second . Holtel looked old tired and in need of some TLC. In the room the blind was held down with the use of a nail knocked into the wall . Will not be stopping her again . SORRY

I’ve stayed here a few times. Staff here is incredibly kind and helpful if any issues. The rooms are always nice, clean and very warm (radiator that you can control yourself). One of my favourite things is that each room has a little private balcony so plenty of fresh air available. The beds usually have two types of pillows ( lots of cushions), so you can pick the one that works for you (one is extra plump and the other one is a little lower which I prefer). Some parts of the rooms are a little dated but all is well kept so it’s not an issue from me. During the day staff always makes sure your tea/coffee/water station is topped up and you’ve got fresh towels and nicely made bed on your return. I’ve always had a lovely stay here.

The hotel was nice and quiet. It is in a quiet area so not great if you need a cab. The downside the hotel locks it doors at midnight which they never informed us about and took 15mins to get someone to oppen the door.

Property very dated in need of refurbishment . Bar,restaurant and reception are passable but tired with musty smell in some areas. Our room was hideous.Carpet worn and dirty.Furnishings old and damaged. No heating controls that resulted in very hot room. The heating turns on automatically and makes a noise very early in the morning.The radiator controls don’t work. The bathroom was awful.The bath taps are corroded and the tiles are covered in mildew . It’s a long time since we have had a shower curtain and this One had discoloured and smelt. Cleaning was almost non existent apart from the bed being made. From the Road it looks a lovely property,best advice drive by

We had a last minute excellent value one night stay. The staff are all really friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. In contrast with the lovely hotel the room decor was a little tired but the facilities were really good and it was very comfortable (and given the cheap price we weren’t expecting 5* luxury). We really appreciated having a ground floor room with direct access to the outside as we had our dog with us, it was great to stay somewhere genuinely dog friendly. A real highlight in the morning was finding the resident tame and beautiful peacock outside our room. We are so pleased we booked breakfast, it was super. This was our first trip to Potters Heron but definitely won’t be our last. Thank you.

Comfy peaceful lovely stay
Very comfy welcoming stay. Friendly efficient staff. Room service meal was delicious. Was a function happening Saturday but the room was located far enough a way not to cause a noise issue. Excellent location as close to all the facilities in Southampton yet a peaceful lovely spot. Would definitely recommend.

Christmas stay at our favourite hotel of the area.
Stayed at Potters Heron for two nights Christmas and Boxing Days, whilst visiting our family, including our grandchildren in Chandlers Ford. Very convenient, we slept well and we had a well cooked breakfast on the last morning. We have stayed here several times over the years without any issues and it remains our favourite hotel in the area.

Wonderful hotel
We had a wonderful 1 night stay, room was comfortable, im disabled there was a lift go bedroom floor and good disabled access throughout, very quiet. Excellent evening meal and breakfast.

Thatched cottage surounded by fields, wonderfully peaceful and only a short distance to Winchester. Lovely breakfast and nice restaurant staff. Room was mostly clean, omnious stain on the bed runner and a slight musk of feet when first entering the room, otherwise sheets were fresh and bathroom clean.

Disappointing!
Check-in took almost half an hour with an unfriendly but just about polite receptionist, as the booking had not been sent from Hotel.com. Quite stressful and was asked more than 3 times for my details and to hand the receptionist my phone to check the booking. The service was unfriendly, but then the same receptionist was there day and night, seemingly o a constant shift. The building and grounds are lovely but the whole place needs a re-fit and modernising. A shame really. The Christmas decorations did look nice and festive. Old-fashioned hairdryer. Not enough plug sockets. Booked a meal at the bar separately and it was such a rip off. The food was expensive and the amount and quality was not worth the money.

Xmas Disastor
Aweful meal as a qualified Chef myself this turkey roast ranks the worst meal ever, I ate in the restaurant my wife at her xmas party Function room both meals below standards Hotel is tired needs an upgrade many years ago I supplied chocolates to Potters Heron this used to be a superior hotel oh dear what has gone wrong?

When we pulled up to this hotel we were very impressed. And even thought we were going to be out of place. Being Disabled I find stairs very difficult. But there was a huge set to get into the entrance. Reception staff were lovely and explained everything well. Sadly we then had more steps and a long corridor to go down to get to our room. When we opened the room door that’s when the disappointment Hit. We are now on the ground floor and we have a big window and door facing houses but no net curtains, so had to have the curtains closed all the time. One of the main light’s flashed so never had them on. There was brown water marks on the ceiling where upstairs must have had a leak. The pipe on the radiator needed looking at. And in the bathroom the grout round the bath was very dirty. So was the mat that is to be used to stop you slipping in the shower. And the toilet didn’t like to flush even toilet paper away. We only had one pillow each so asked if we could have more. It didn’t seem like we could but thankfully we did. We had breakfast both mornings and definitely can’t complain about any of the food. It was amazing. Although pre book it. As expensive otherwise.

this impressive looking thatched roof hotel come pub is within easy reach of both romsey/ Winchester & even Southampton.. this hotel is very deceiving and is lager than it looks with many rooms and facilities our room was large and very quite with all the usual room facilities One down side if it is a down side!? Is that the breakfast and evening meals are very expensive parking is free with ample spaces would we stay here again probably yes if we ever visit this area.

Greeted on arrival by a pleasent lady gave me all the info i needed. Room was good, bed comfy, cleanliness of the bath coulld have been better as noted rust around bath tap. breakfast was first class, made to my specifications. only point really was that having a leaflet with timings of meal times and info on the area would have been good to have in the room

Hotel fabulous but restaurant disappointing
Pros - online check-in minimised reception wait. Reception was very professional anyway - room was very spacious and well presented; bed was actually a superking and had a very comfortable topper. Bathroom showing signs of wear but was still adequate and shower good - housekeeping discreet, helpful and efficient Cons - restaurant experience was very disappointing. Saturday evening dining we chose pate`, which was delicious followed by a quite ordinary fare of fish and chips and pork loin chop. The fish was overcooked and dry. The pork was much better but both were served on cold plates. For the gastro meal and gastro price that was marketed and therefore expected we felt under-awed. We were seated promptly having pre-booked a table and then waited 25 minutes to be given a drinks menu to enable us to order drinks while we chose our food We ordered a bottle of champagne. This was delivered to our table, already opened without any sign of the cork or foil. It made us rather suspicious as we felt this should be opened at the table after showing us the bottle. We had to pour our own champagne which we didn't actually mind, but just thought the first glass should have been done by the waiter. We would have liked to try a dessert but no- one returned to our table to take any further orders. Sunday breakfast was buffet style. We breakfasted at 10am - not much left and it was cold. We had to help ourselves to a thermos of coffee - also cold. Come on...
