Amazing stay, lovely staff, well appointed room, etc. Our only gripes were that it was very hot in the room - which was easily remedied by opening the window - and that there was only one vegetarian option on the menu. But it is a lovely place, and an amazing location for walks, and mooching in the town.
A very nice historic pub, with spacious and clean rooms. The bathroom was large and nice, as well as the breakfast being very good. I was disappointed for the price I was paying, for the TV I was provided in my room, hence the lower review
We were in Great Missenden for a friends 50th and decided to stay here instead of the conference centre at Missenden Abbey and I'm so glad we did. I can't speak for the dinner as unfortunately, we arrived a bit later than we were expecting so didn't have time, which was a disappointment as the menu looked fabulous and if the breakfast is anything to go by I'm sure the quality of the food would have been amazing. Both my wife and I commented that it was the best breakfast we've ever had in a hotel, high quality ingredients cooked to perfection. The only note for improvement would be that perhaps they could have some vegetarian sausages on standby for people who don't eat meat (like my wife) However she did have the rest and they put some wilted spinach on her plate which she said was absolutely delicious. The room was a good size, the bed was comfy and everything including the bathroom was scrupulously clean. If I'm ever remotely near the area again I will definitely be staying there.
Room and bathroom both compact, but generally very comfortable with useful additions such as water in the room. Bed was excellent. Shower was slightly annoying as it ran cold for one second every 10 seconds. Nice and quiet when we stayed midweek in October but I would be concerned about potential noise from any events in the teepee just outside our room in the summer. Dinner was excellent the Roast Cauliflower was awesome -so good i had it again the 2nd night. Breakfast was great and included fresh warm croissants!
Unable to make tea in the room, fantastic nespresso machine but not generating water hot enough to brew tea.
Food was excellent and ambience in bar/restaurant is good.
En-suite needs some attention, water temperature in shower varied.
Very convenient for our needs
Overall, some minor improvements/ maintenance would vastly improve the experience.
Hotel, amazing!
Only one query on my confirmation document from hotels.com it said on the total amount payable ‘collected by the hotel’
As I booked a long time ago, reading that made me think I had already paid for it. Not a problem having to pay for it, but could you please make it clearer and change the message to ‘to be collected by the hotel’?
Great service from the very start. Made a mistake with booking, when contacting the the Inn Molly and Peter were more than kind and accommodating to correct things. Food was first rate both dinner and breakfast were delicious. One major niggle was the constant loss in water pressure in the shower causing it to go cold and then warm again and second bed was not prepared. Minor issues bathroom bin broken and bath had some damage. Service was excellent especially staff at dinner service.
We stayed on a Sunday. I wasn’t aware that the restaurant wasn’t open in the evening due to the fact Sunday lunch is served. Not a real problem but just to make you aware.
We traveled the short distance to Great Missenden and found a very nice Indian restaurant.
Breakfast was really nice and couldn’t fault it.
Lovely traditional country pub with great rooms. You had the experience of a building with history, with modern rooms and comfort. There was an amazing yurt outside for al fresco dining too! Very cosy.
My one night stay was really lovely. The room was very clean and everything you needed. Food was so nice, good choice and generous portions. Staff ver friendly
We stayed in a double room (room 4). The bed was comfortable. There is only a shower in this unit. We found the heat of the shower water fluctuated, which was not ideal. The food in the restaurant was excellent. We had supper and breakfast there. The breakfast was immense! The staff were all very friendly.
One of the best nights stay I have had in the Uk. The food was absolutely delicious, restaurant standard and service. The room was comfortable, clean, modern fixtures, but with country charm. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend the Nags head and hope to go there again soon
Check in was great and very friendly staff, the room was quite noisy and there was a lot of banging late in the evening from below. The breakfast was nice but the waitress got the order incorrect. Checkout was easy using the app.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
Comfortable Inn spoilt by poor facilities.
Hotel was very pleasant and the welcome friendly and helpful. However the room (No7) had some problems. The bed was superb, but the coffee/tea making facilities not good - an expensive coffee/hot water machine had no operating instructions - so impossible to use - even if the supply of teas and coffees was adequate, which they were not - NO decaffinated coffee, NO sweeteners. And WHY so many scatter cushions that needed dumping in an otherwise small room - to get at the bed for sleeping!
The bathroom not so good either ... lights were faulty on arrival but eventually worked OK. - but not until the morning we departed! The shower was faulty - had to use the hand held shower head (lit with a torch I had!) because the overhead unit was sending water everywhere except the showering area!
No bath-caps supplied. No hook on the door - for dressing gowns etc. Water-pressure in hand basin was ridiculous - turning on taps resulted in us and room being covered in water!
Given a £20.00 discount on check-out - a thoughtful but inadequate gesture for the inconvenience we suffered.
Pity these problems soured an otherwise happy stay including an excellent evening meal.
The stay was fine. There were just a few minor issues. A second bath towel missing but that was rectified. Nespresso machine on room we couldn't operate it, would have preferred a kettle.
The dessert at the evening meal ie fruit crumble, not a bit of crumble in sight.
At breakfast they could have offered cereals, yogurts and fruit juice.
Overall ir was adequate. We were onky staying over for one night anyway.
