The room was a good size. There was a kitchenette with a microwave and kettle which was very convenient for preparing a snack. Breakfast was included. The hotel had washing machines and detergent which was a considerate addition. I would stay again.

The hotel room had not been cleaned prior to our visit. The toilet has faeces in it, the shower cubicle and sink in the bathroom were filthy. The room had no curtains or blinds and there was an office block across the street who could see in the window, so no privacy. The laminate flooring was separating. And the glasses in the room were not cleaned either

I’ve stayed in a few Residence Inns in North America . I trust the Marriott name for consistency and reliability. I am dumbfounded that the name RESIDENCE Inn which should be your home away from home — Is lacking of a stove. The oven was great, but the dishwasher for a 2-night stay had only one detergent pod. Who expects to bake only? And wash dishes one night only- there was no liquid for washing dishes by hand. Surprised and disappointed. Won’t be back here

Marriott always deliver. Conveniently located. The staff are very helpful, with transportation assistance, food, or room needs. Convenient washer with laundry soap, and ofcourse english hot breakfast included. The only thing that bothered me in the beginning was no AC across the hotel at that time, but it was fall (Edinburgh is quite cold). Room was clean, spacious and amenities (fridge, microwave, iron, etc- studio. Definitely we recommend, and can come back in the future and stay here.

Terrible service. I reported 2 problems in my room and when i left 10 days later they were not fixed. Early wake up call came 30 minutes late causing a big rush to get my flight. Nice new mattress was not accompanied with sheets that actually fitted.

Everything about this hotel was fine except the temperature of the room which remained 78F or higher no matter what we did. There is no air conditioning which is understandable for Edinburgh but there is also no air flow (window opens only a crack) and no way to cool the rooms down. Apparently there was a “heat wave” (temps in the low 70s during the day) up until the day we arrived. For the three days we were there the outside temp was 40s at night and about 60 during the day, nonetheless with three fans provided by the hotel and leaving lights off, the room hovered around 80, and the hallways were worse. The staff did their best but told us the building was built to retain heat because “Edinburgh is usually cold.” I heard another guest tell the front desk as he was checking out that he had been so hot the night before that he thought he had a fever. This is an infrastructure problem but it made our stay unpleasant, and we won’t be back.

Decent Hotel
The hotel is nice and modern. The hotel shares a courtyard with an office building that leaves their lights on all night making it difficult to sleep if you want to leave the curtains cracked open for air from the window. Fortunately I had an eye mask. The air is quiet and peaceful. Unfortunately there is no air conditioning and we visited when temps were 80⁰, though these temps were not normal. Luckily we had a small fan in the room to help,but it was stifling hot. Overall the staff was decent. A few very unkind people work there and were sure to treat you with an unkind manner but most were nice upon approach. I like the location of the hotel as it was in the heart of the city and easy to walk outside to a path that leads you straight into the action of Edinburgh. Food delivery services were available at all hours and the front had 24 hour service. A small grocery store is around the corner. Overall I would stay there again as they do offer a small breakfast every morning and they do have elevators, which most hotels only have stairs, and the location is convenient.

Lobby is small, though it unlike the rest of the hotel appears to be air conditioned. It was 77f outside but 85f inside our rooms. Fans did little. If there was more ventilationit may have been tolerable, but I was glad we only stayed one night and had a very early flight to catch. Would not book here again outside of winter.

There was no air conditioning. We were on the 5th floor and were informed that there was a floor fan in the closet. The temp never got below 85 degrees. The front desk did all they could and were very helpful.

We had a lovely stay in a family room. It was spacious and well thought out although toilet area was very small. We could easily have stayed for a week and not felt too on top of eachother. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times and the breakfast was delicious!

Wonderful stay.
I thought the hotel staff were so friendly and went out of their way to help with any requests. I found the facilities very clean and the breakfast selection was satisfying. I had never been to Edinburgh before and I was so happy with this location as I felt like I had access to all the touristy areas.

Unfortunately we didn’t have a great stay. The advertised “bar” was essentially a fridge. The room was very warm with no window or air conditioning which made it very difficult to sleep. The TV signal made the tv useless. The room was very clean and the staff where helpful.

Very nice room, excellent breakfast. Easy to walk into the Royal Mile(although it is up hill). There is a Starbucks and PureGym about a minute away, letting me not miss my usual activity while here.

Be careful when booking the one bedroom suite does not have a pull out bed just 1 queen bed. Hotel is great location for uni. Clean, small gym, free breakfast is really good. Nice that rooms have a kitchen.
