"Property was in a good location to access all Riga has to offer. Staff were helpful and rooms were clean and functional although could have benefitted from providing additional pillows and air con/fan as they were very well insulated - almost too much so and you couldn’t have the window open due to the street noise from the surrounding bars. "Easily accessible by public transportation, perfectly situated between the Old City and the Art Nouveau district, the Metropole is one of Riga's best hotels. Yet it is surprisingly affordable. Rooms are small, but the hotel dates from a time when rooms were just for sleeping. Public spaces are attractive and clean. Staff is multilingual and attentive. The "Gastropub" De Commerce 1871 should receive better notice: it's a lovely space with first class continental dishes and an excellent bar."

"Strong smell of sewage throughout the reception area and corridors. Mould in bathroom. No kettle or tea and coffee. Mini bar over priced. Out dated rooms, broken tired furniture and decor. Big yellow stains on bed. Remote control for TV filthily disgusting. Major issue with access to hotel as there is a locked gate which requires a security guard to open to allow entry/exit. Found had to wait multiple times to get into the courtyard area . "

"This beautiful hotel was probably the nicest place I’ve ever had the opportunity to stay at. It was an unexpected joy. The staff was impeccable, the room was spacious and well appointed. The heated bathroom floors were a lovely discovery. I have never seen a breakfast buffet so expansive and inclusive. You also have the option to order from the menu as they have a chef there preparing omelettes, pancakes, etc. Excellent espresso drinks as well. We dined at the restaurant upstairs and the food was so good. I had the lobster and my partner had the strip loin steak (on the recommendation of the waiter) and everything was perfectly cooked. They had mock-tails and NA sparkling wine which we appreciated since neither of us drink alcohol. The desserts were a work of art. Thank you for a lovely stay and we will definitely be back not only for this hotel, but for Riga as well. "
