The hotel is excellent and locate beautifully on Lake Windermere however, the included continental breakfast was somewhat questionable. Very basic with very limited choice. Full English breakfast was considerably expensive. Room toilets are rather cramped. Slightly large person would struggle to fit in. I would have given 5* if the breakfast was better.

Pretentious with nothing to be pretentious about. Room very worn with dangerous step3 yards into the room Bathroom lights/fan incorrectly installed. No sink plug. Room cold .Heating remotely turned off most of the time.Hotel NOT suitable for people with restricted movement.Reception badly informed.Not what we paid for,very poor value.bed awful ,barman faultless.

We have stayed at the hotel a few times some things have changed the pool sauna jacuzzi ect is now payable as a extra but things change price to use quite high but the hotel is very picturesque great location great breakfast stunning views staff friendly as again we had a lovely time if snow is around looks amazing

Great location, poor value for money.
The good points: location is perfect, reception and bar area contemporary and stylish. The bad points: room price appears to include free breakfast but actually is only continental. The hotel needs to inform 3rd party sites that they do not offer free breakfast. Carpets in room stained, mould in bathrooms. An overhaul is needed to bring these rooms up to standard and the spa should be offered with the high room price.

Rooms have a very homely feel, the views are beautiful. We really enjoyed the spa facilities as it wasn’t busy at all and we could enjoy the pool, Sauna and hot pool to ourselves. Breakfast could be better as there isn’t a great range and for a full English there is an extra charge. Would definitely return.

The worst hotel in the lakes I have stayed at. I would avoid this hotel. Unsure how this hotel is 4 stars. The only good thing was the view from our room. Arrived at 12 afternoon told check in was 4 and someone would ring us if room was ready, 9pm at night still hasn’t heard anything. The hotel need a refit. Damp and mould in the hall/stairs and in our rooms. You have to pay extra for the spa which you aren’t allowed to drink in. I paid for the spa at first not knowing you could not drink, I did not go in and staff were funny about giving me my cash back as they had no cash in the till? Unsure when I had given them cash. Extra for breakfast too although it says it’s included it’s just cereal and toast. It is 10 minute drive to anything, if you like walking which we do you can’t walk into the centre of town as it is dangerous, no paths or walks through woods to it. The taxi is £12 each way so might as well put towards another hotel.

We had a lovely and restful stay. Staff was amazing, spa facilities as well. We loved dinning at the restaurant. The lounge was cosy and I could work on my laptop while being there. It was affordable and we would love to go back.

The Windermere Suite is excellent and spacious, not to mention its own private terrace and hot tub. The staff were extremely friendly and provided excellent service. Compliments to the kitchen, the food was first class throughout our stay. We were fortunate enough to have a hot stone spa during our stay aswell which was superb. We will definitely be returning again.

Booked a room for my sister as an engagement present. The room was not what was expected, we requested lake view, we got a view of what looked like caravans and they had iron marks on the carpet. My mum contacted the hotel and the woman who I believe to be the owner couldnt do enough for my sister. We did pay extra to upgrade her to a better room which had a lake view, they done late check out and a few upgrades. I would recommend if booking to stay here, that you book direct with the hotel and not via expedia.

Was very disappointed to find that our room had mould in the corners of the room and the pillows were wet from damp coming through the bed head. Disappointed to find that cooked breakfast wasn’t included in the breakfast option on a 4* hotel. Only found out the spa wasn’t included also in the price until I booked it and came in at £20pp for a 3 hour slot, should be included in the price.

Damp in the room/extra cost for the spa
The hotel was very tired, when waking up in the morning the room was very damp, the windows were soaking wet with mould on the ceiling. The bathroom had mould as well. The heating was not working. On Saturday we complained because my husband is an asthmatics, the damp made him very ill, he could hardly walk up the stairs. We moved rooms which was lovely damp and mould free. Also did not think it was right to pay extra for the spa, when you book a spa hotel you do not expect to pay extra for the spa.

Staff all very helpful and welcoming. Decor and accommodations excellent. Huge comfortable beds butsound-proofing in bedrooms could be better. Breakfasts slightly disappointing (not Greek yoghurt - toast either burnt or tasted odd, with vegan butter!) but dinner was excellent and v. generous helpings. Would certainly stay there again

Shocking staff with no initiative or customer service. Shabby run down rooms. Our room was filthy old and shabby with wonky floors and furniture. The door was crow bar damaged and flat pillows and cheap mattresses. You have to pay £20 extra for the spa each visit! Thank goodness for hotels.com who quickly relocated me!

Location, view and staff wonderful. Entrance, lounge and restaurant very smart. Food excellent although choice limited if staying for more than a week. Room disappointing, only cleaned once during our stay. Extra charge for swimming pool outrageous and not mentioned on web site. Complaints, of which the staff have many to deal with through very little fault of their own, were handled brilliantly. More staff are needed, including maintenance and garden personnel, to cope with the slightly neglected look of the place. Not what you expect for the price but could be really great if some money spent on it.

This is what I believe to be a fair review of our stay. We arrived just before 4pm - the stated check-in time - to find that our room had not been made up on time, which it later emerged was due to a low staffing issue. After numerous incidents of being told it would only be 20 more minutes, we were able to access an alternative room in order to shower and freshen up, and we went out for dinner, assuming that by the time we returned our room would be ready. Sadly, it wasn’t, and we were almost at the point where we were looking for somewhere else when we were handed the room key at 8pm. However, despite this nightmare of an arrival evening, the manager and staff were hugely apologetic and accommodating to us - we received a free cooked breakfast for each day of our stay, free use of the spa and a free evening meal for the next night - my wife’s birthday. The manager and staff going the extra mile like that ensured that her birthday was actually great, despite our fears from the first night. The food was very good, and the spa, especially the outside areas, was excellent. The hotel is second to none in terms of location, with superb Lake views without the hustle and bustle of nearby Bowness. The room could use some sprucing up, though, with stains on the carpets and marks on the walls. With a bit of a sprucing up and addressing the staffing issues, this could be the best hotel in the area. A special mention goes to Jacob, who was extremely accommodating when manning the bar.

A race to the bottom.
The lakeside location is the main attraction, almost everything else seems to be about revenue at the expense of quality. Low maintenance standards such as taps that don't work, build up of grime on doors and windows, laundry lying around the corridors, a vacuum cleaner strategically left all day where it could be tripped over by guests, insufficient attention to garden areas. A hotel can often be judged by the room rates, not here, value for money is not understood by the management.

We booked on Expedia and when enjoying our day; we were called by Beech Hill and told Expedia overbooked the room. Yes, they didn't have the room we booked and they would be willing to give us a cheaper room for the same price as the better room. I had to agrue with them over the phone and they finally agreed that we could come see the cheaper room and if we liked it, they would not return our money but give us a credit towards items at the hotel. We knew it was now late in the day and we agreed. So we arrived at 5:46 PM to find the room in terrible condition with wallpaper torn off in sections around the room, wet towels on the floor, large wet or stains on the carpet, mold in the bathroom, greasy substance on the door knob and a musty smell. We asked why the room was unclean and they ssid they were having issues. Other customers were also complaining of waiting hours for a clean room and towels. We told them we were cancelling our booking and they told us Expedia would have to deal with it. I spoke to Expedia and they tried to call them multiple times with no response. So, now I have to wait for a further investigation before I'm refunded my £377.90

Stayed on 4/09/23 for one night. Reception staff were uninterested and on the three interactions with the same staff member, when she eventually engaged with us, she went into the back office and chatted to her colleague, clearly unrelated to our requests. Room had dust in the head board, light on the vanity mirror only partially worked and the fan in the bathroom did not work. Only two tea bags were provided along with two milk cartons, when more were requested another two were “reluctantly” provided. No internet in the room, an extra £20 pp to use the pool for and a surcharge for a cooked breakfast all seemed very last century. Although an incredibly attractive Edwardian pile both inside and out basic lack of cleanliness detracted from its attraction. This included litter on the terrace and and communal areas that clearly hadn’t been vacuumed. So disappointing as all the issues were easy fixes.

Property is not a four star standard hotel Some of the staff were curt and unwelcoming Property is in dire need of a refurbishment and dirty in places Best thing about this hotel is the view. Whilst food was ok some of the items that were suppose to be included were not…disappointed and cannot recommend.
