“Lovely hotel for a city centre break”

When you first arrive you think from the outside that you're entering a fairly modern hotel, but the joy of it is the original hotel that lies behind. This is an historic building with features such as the original open cage lift and lovely stained glass windows in the bar that looks out onto Parkers Piece - a large green where you can see the local students and residents crossing it on their bikes (Cambridge is a City of bikes!). Our room was 3rd floor with sloping ceilings and a 1930's style bathroom. It was cosy but with enough space (we also had a little reception room). But don't think that the hotel is outdated, far from it, we had 2 flat screen TV's! It is perfectly located to walk into the centre in a few minutes - we spent the evening dining at a lovely cellar restaurant followed by tickets to the Arts Theatre and within a few minutes we were back relaxing in the Parkers Bar enjoying excellent service from the bar staff. The breakfast was a lovely spread with plenty of hot and cold food to suite all tastes in the Newton suite which again overlooks Parkers Piece. In fact it is from Parkers Piece that you can enjoy the original architecture of the hotel (the entrance would have been added within the last 50 years I would guess). There is car parking (extra charge, but reasonable) which is a real bonus for a city centre hotel (one of the old photos on display in the hotel stairwell is the garage in 1912!). Service by all staff was excellent and friendly.

“single female”

Bed and breakfast both very good. Breakfast overlooking the green was most enjoyable. The perfect place for a single female to stay.

“Brilliant Breakfast”

An incredibly well situated hotel for seeing Cambridge Colleges and for shopping. A wonderful selection at breakfast and the staff were extremely courteous and helpful, especially the guy on reception who remembered our name 2 days later! We were a little taken aback to have to pay for parking our car, but given the compactness of the city and the lack of parking space, this was understandable.

“One night in Cambridge”

The De Vereeniging Uni Arms Hotel is a strange mix of slightly tired decor balanced with good food, excellent service and a great position. Being there for one night, the size (smallish) of the Street facing room did not really matter as the bed was very comfortable and the aircon covered any street noise. Dinner was excellent, with great service and breakfast is in a charming airy room overlooking a huge green. Again, both the food and the service were very good. A further plus is the parking under the hotel. Well worth the price, and I'll return! PG

“Great weekend.”

I loved the hotel very clean, and with a huge amount of character. I do think for a 4 star hotel it needs some tidying up pipes sticking out of wall, carpet threadbare in places, it needs some TLC given. The breakfast was excellent and in a great situation for the town.

“Great city centre hotel”

Stayed for a weekend break and had a really good time. Our first room has an air conditioner outside the window so we asked for a change. We took an optional upgrade and had a much better room - top floor - great view over Parkers Piece and really spacious. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is showing signs of wear and tear but in a pleasing way! Handy to have parking, although it did seem quite expensive. Very well located for getting around Cambridge and all round a very good hotel. To be recommended.

“Ideal location for all visitors”

The only problem with this and many other hotels in Cambridge is the lack of parking. The hotel car park is tiny. However, the hotel has a superb location in Cambridge. The buffet breakfast was ex

“Excellent Location for exploring Central Cambridge”

A good base for exploring Cambridge. We got the dinner, bed and breakfast package which was good value. The food in the restaurant was good - although the vegetarian options were uninspiring. I would book the same package again though.
