Good location but horrible stay

Posted 14-Jul-2014
We stayed in the 5th floor the smallest room ever, we had to go up the stairs as there is no lifts. Toilets disgusting. The staff was very friendly and helpful but I wouldn't stay there again.

Well-located hotel very close to the Leidseplein

Posted 16-Jun-2014
Pros: Good location Friendly/helpful staff Very reasonable priced for where it is! Great for a stag/hen/party weekend
Cons: They could provide free towels or make it apparent that towels will be charged at EUR 4.50 prior to arriving but this is but a minor qualm.
Location: Well, its Amsterdam... so use your imagination!
Small but suitable rooms (our one hand a balcony but this I understand this was the exception, not the rule) shared showers and toilets that are reasonably well-maintained, one of the showers was out of service for a day or two but the other was free whenever needed. Short walk to the Leidseplein, one of the best places in the 'Dam for live music, a few drinks and whatever else takes your fancy... Friendly and informative recepiton staff and a very pleasant maid who would tidy your room once a day (even if you were still passed out within it!)

Noisy cramped hotel

Posted 04-Jun-2014
The description of the hotel suggested that the 4 person room had their own bathroom but it didn't. It was cramped and hot but we weren't able to open the windows. It was very noisy with the trams going past regularly. At least the beds were clean and relatively comfortable

Location, Location

This hotel was easy to find and in a good location to get around Amsterdam. They have bike rentals that are very affordable. The staff members were all very helpful. But the hotel itself is in very poor condition. The rooms are up very narrow and curved stairs. My room was on the third floor, so over 50 stairs to climb every day and sometimes several times a day. The bathrooms are very small and not very clean, especially the showers. The toilet seat was broken, too. The room itself was cramped and in one room the windows didn't open. Luckily I changed rooms and the windows in the second room opened to get some fresh air. The bedding was clean but the bed was not very comfortable and the mattress kept sliding off the platform. The hotel does not provide towels (which I did not know) so I had to buy a towel for nearly 5 euros. There is a Starbucks a few doors down and a grocery store as well. The tram stop is across the intersection and it only takes about 15 minutes to reach the central station. If you are on a tight budget and you only plan to sleep in the room, then this hotel is an option.

Great location, cheap and cheerful hotel.

If you want a cheap place to lay your head while you sample all that Amsterdam has to offer, this is the place to you. Rooms are a little run down and the showers/toilets are not the most comfortable, but everything works and the staff are freindly. Just make sure to bring your own towel, as the ones the hotel provides are expensive and not very large! Not the place to stay if you want luxury, but as a cheap stay with a great location, you really can't go wrong.

Good location, facilities poor.

Pros: Free wifi in the lounge. Showers hot, but nowhere dry to stand to towel feet. Cheap.
Cons: Cleaning. Cupboards. Towels. Better Double glazing to keep out sound of trams. Heavy fire doors. Creaky floorboards.
Location: Close to vondelpark, museum quarter and concertabouw. Easy walk into town centre. Next to tram line. Starbucks and Indonesian restaurant close by.
Dirty entrance gives poor initial impression. Steep stairs up to reception and bedrooms. Heavy and noisy fire doors and creaky floorboards. Our room did not appear to be cleaned during our stay. Continual problem with electronic keys, kept getting locked out of our room. Lumpy pillow and bouncy bed, discovered it only had three legs! We were expecting to be able to get breakfast, but they had stopped this for 2014, so we went to Starbucks nearby. TV had no remote, but did work when we pressed the right buttons. Two single beds, but next to each other as otherwise no space. No drawers or shelves or hanging for clothes so had to keep them in case. There was a small lounge, but it was usually full of people using the wifi.
