Great location, cheap and cheerful hotel.

If you want a cheap place to lay your head while you sample all that Amsterdam has to offer, this is the place to you. Rooms are a little run down and the showers/toilets are not the most comfortable, but everything works and the staff are freindly. Just make sure to bring your own towel, as the ones the hotel provides are expensive and not very large! Not the place to stay if you want luxury, but as a cheap stay with a great location, you really can't go wrong.

Good location, facilities poor.

Pros: Free wifi in the lounge. Showers hot, but nowhere dry to stand to towel feet. Cheap.
Cons: Cleaning. Cupboards. Towels. Better Double glazing to keep out sound of trams. Heavy fire doors. Creaky floorboards.
Location: Close to vondelpark, museum quarter and concertabouw. Easy walk into town centre. Next to tram line. Starbucks and Indonesian restaurant close by.
Dirty entrance gives poor initial impression. Steep stairs up to reception and bedrooms. Heavy and noisy fire doors and creaky floorboards. Our room did not appear to be cleaned during our stay. Continual problem with electronic keys, kept getting locked out of our room. Lumpy pillow and bouncy bed, discovered it only had three legs! We were expecting to be able to get breakfast, but they had stopped this for 2014, so we went to Starbucks nearby. TV had no remote, but did work when we pressed the right buttons. Two single beds, but next to each other as otherwise no space. No drawers or shelves or hanging for clothes so had to keep them in case. There was a small lounge, but it was usually full of people using the wifi.

Cheap and cheer little place

Cheap little getaway to Amsterdam, perfect for a group of young lads smashing it. The hotel staff started polite but to be honest we annoyed them by loosing the hotel key 7 times. :S. They were very angry to say the least but man for the price you pay, you get a lot. Would definitely go again, don't think they'll have us though :P

Very overpriced

We stayed in a double bed room over the New Years period with a shared bathroom. The toilet was dirty, there was always water and other liquids all over the floor and limited toilet paper. The majority of staff were friendly, but had two rude people working the night shift when we were there which was disappointing. The plus size of the place was its location- shops and cafes just downstairs and close to the various attractions in Amsterdam. However, for the price we paid I expected a lot more, or at the very least adequate toilet paper.

Great breakfast. Friendly staff. Poor facilities.

Staff & breakfast were good. Sadly the facility fell very short: Curtains broken, net curtains & carpets dirty and stained, no light in shower & door handle falls off. All soap dispensers empty, front door uninviting, lamps in room broken, bed very lopsided, basin in loo blocked, strong mouldy and musty odour in rooms, tv reception poor, graffiti, paint spills, hired towells really old & thim, linen warn and torn. Overall very grotty - even for budget hotel.

We arrived at the hotel quite late. I wanted to pay cash for the whole stay since I couldn't check my account balance and just took out as much money as possible. The gent told me that my card has been charged already and I won't go over my overdraft. Guess what happened? As I found out after arriving in Luton my card got charged and I have to pay £30 over limit fee. Any way... I reserved a twin room which as per website was quite spacious with a nice decor. We got a key to room on the 3rd floor- no lift, steep stairs. It was a double room what we find out after getting all the way up. We came back to the reception and explained the situation. The guy changed the room for us without a problem. Second room was on the 3rd floor. I guess for some people it could count as a twin; there were two beds... But the room was so small that the beds were stuck together without the possibility of moving them anywhere. We went down to the reception again. Got another room which was a small twin with a bulk bed. It had a window which opened, a desk, a sink which was almost unusable due to lack of water and a chair. The showers and bathroom were right next to our room which was convenient and it wasn't very loud which was one of our worries. The breakfast was swerved quite early with nothing warm to eat. After all it is a budget hotel and you get for what you pay. I would visit again.

Great service at the front desk- very helpful. Very clean bathrooms. Rooms were serviced for us- a nice surprise! Great location which is a nice walk from Dam square through other lovely areas. Will stay again for my next trip to Amsterdam. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Amazing for the price. Breakfast included- simple but tasty and filling (cold meats, cheese, breads, cereal, coffee, hot chocolate etc)....

a little disappointing

Hi, I would not recommend this hotel if you have any legs/knee/ankle/back problems. The rooms are really small, the stairs are terrible, you need to literately climb to your room (any floor 1st, 2nd.....). there is no elevator! the internet randomly works on the rooms. The bathroom was shared, however it was clean and okay so that was good. The breakfast was definitely the best part, there's a lot of food if you go early, if not, you won't eat. The price was high for what I received, I was expecting something more comfortable and pleasant. It is far from the main train station, around 40 to 45 minutes walking fast distance from there. The trams start working at 6 and buses around 520am, if you have an early flight or train, you may need to wake up really early in the morning so you can catch it. This is recommended for young people or backpackers, that don't care about quality, just to have a save place to leave your stuff and a place with roof to sleep.

horrible service

the people in the lobby are completely rude, they don't care about giving a good service at all. The rooms are not worth the money at all. The only good thing about the hotel is that you are near leidesplein. From there you can walk around the city. Other than that i don't recommend this hotel at all. Again, it's not worth the money.

Pros: staff & breakfast,LOCATION
Cons: décor,size of rooms,
Location: location good
This hotel does exactly what it says on the tin. It's a 1 star hotel after all.If you're taking your other half for a bit of romance.Forget it.I was there on a lads jolly for the Europa league final. So we never saw much of the hotel.Continental breakfast was decent.Staff were pleasant. It's also handy for Dam square & central train station. The tram stops literally across the street, takes 5 mins to central, costs 2 euros 40.Cab's about 15 euros. All in all if you're in Amsterdam on a stag do,for a day or so,it's ok.Longer breaks with your partner, forget it.
