The time for the ICC Twenty20 Cricket World Cup has arrived, and not only are we excited about all the matches to come, but the beautiful destinations where these games will be played.

The cricket matches will be hosted all over India and teams from around the world will descend into India to battle it out for the winning title. The ICC Cricket World Cup begins on the 8th March 2016, with the first game seeing Zimbabwe and Hong Kong take each other on at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur.

This stadium was built on top of the old Vidarbha Cricket Stadium, and is considered to be one of the best facilities in International Cricket. But this stadium is not the only interesting fact about Nagpur; it is well-known that the area is famous for its oranges, but listed below are a few things you might not have known:

  • Nagpur is considered to be the greenest city in India
  • All of the country’s gold assets are stored in the Nagpur branch of the Reserve Bank of India
  • One of India’s fastest bowlers, Umesh Yadav, is from Nagpur

Built in 1969 and formerly known as the Karnataka State Cricket Association ground, the Chinnaswamy Stadium, will be hosting several cricket matches in the 2016 ICC World Cup. Eden Gardens is the largest and oldest cricket stadium in India and the second largest in the world; home of the Bengal Cricket Team this is one of the most iconic stadiums in international cricket, making it a perfect destination to host the ICC Cricket World Cup.
