The hotel was tired and in need of renovation. Furniture was outdated and in many cases had damage such as scratches, gouges and stains. Most concerning was the fact that a large section of the carpeting between one of the queen beds and the in-room HVAC unit was soaking wet due to a probable condensation leak. The bathroom tub had a broken stopper mechanism, so the hotel had simply provided a rubber drain stopper instead. Not what I would expect from a hotel so highly rated on Expedia. The lobby was very small for a hotel located in Manhattan, and filled with outdated and crowded (due to furniture arrangement) seating areas. The staff was friendly and helpful to be sure. But management had not led them to advise us of the "free" beverage allowances our rate provided for. I use the " " because the "free" items were specifically listed as being due to the $45 "resort/amenity fee" that we paid. I blame Expedia for being incorrect/deceptive in the fee being charged, as the rate that I pre-paid to them was advertised as "all taxes and fees included." Obviously, not all fees were included. I would not recommend this hotel to someone looking for any type of luxury accomodation in the Manhattan area, especially given the prices being charged. If you want a beaten up Hampton Inn with rates on steroids, then you would be in luck.

The best things about this hotel are the location and the staff. The staff across the hotel is incredibly kind and welcoming - kudos to them for making your guests comfortable. The midtown location is perfect for getting to major landmarks and theaters and still is quiet in the evenings. The hotel itself missed the mark for a couple big reasons: it was really disappointing that the restaurant/bar were closed without prior notice to the guests and the rooms were a total miss - the concrete/metal decor made it feel more like a jail cell than a comfortable room. The shower also ran throughout the night for no reason which was annoying to hear.
