Location was great - rooms ok in size but if I had paid the top dollar for the 4 nights and not the special price I wouldn’t have been as happy.

Neighbor noise was passed through easily.

Restaurant staff and food very good. Front desk very good. Housekeeping did a poor job, cleaned room once and did not provide hand towels or wash clothes. Common areas are good with the exception of the gym which was totally inadequate. Lobby, bar, pool areas very nice. Rooms need an upgrade a little worn. Bed was very nice

The presence of a pool is misleading. Small and literally zero pool deck around it. Also wedged in between three buildings and a giant window to the lobby. Literally a fishbowl with no where to relax in the sun. LA is known for the sunshine. Dealbreaker. Otherwise cute-ish hotel. Old.

We traveled to L.A. the first time and was looking for the usual Hilton/Marriott but, and landed on The Sun Rose first night was a pleasant change. Our flight was delayed into the late night and there wasn't a doorman to show us the way when our ride got to the checker-floored piazza, so it was a bit confusing as the check in lobby is tucked inside behind the amazing mirror-ball centerpiece. The room was clean in general with nice temperature controlled, but did find tiny bugs under the bedsheet which I asked the staff to change. I wish there was a microwave, but you can request for the kettle. The view wasn't great facing the street and got noisy early in the morning with the traffic, and didn't help with the noisy neighbor that might have party too hard and showering/enjoying TV/talking 4 O'clock. Hind sight we probably should've requested a room change but just thought the day after would be better, plus we weren't there for the whole day everyday so didn't want to cause too much fuss. The hotel roof-top pool looked as amazing as on the photo, although it operates in limited 10-7pm, which we didn't get to enjoy as we left in the morning and got back past 7pm usually so that was a bummer. The gym was by far the best I have seen in all of the hotel stays with all sorts of equipment and a spacious separate studio room; there was not enough dry towels when I was there, but at least there is the refrigerated-wet-towels I could use.
